The American Film Institute just announced the AFI Awards recipients for 2020 for the top 10 TV and film shows “deemed culturally and artistically representative of this year’s most significant achievements in the art of the moving image” and unsurprisingly, Netflix dominates the awards.

For the 10 best films, Netflix received four of the 10 awards for Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, George C. Wolfe’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, David Fincher’s Mank, and Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7.

Two slots went to Amazon Studios for Regina King’s One Night in Miami and Darius Marder’s Sound of Metal. The remaining slots were spread across studios for  Shaka King’s Judas and the Black Messiah (Warner Bros.), Lee Isaac Chung’s Minari (A24), and Chloé Zhao’s Nomadland (Searchlight Pictures).

Netflix also dominated the top 10 TV awards with Bridgerton, The Crown, The Queen’s Gambit, and Unorthodox. Rounding out the top 10 were AMC’s Better Call Saul, Showtime’s The Good Lord Bird, HBO’s Lovecraft Country, Disney Plus’ The Mandalorian, Hulu’s Mrs. America, and Apple TV Plus’ Ted Lasso.

A special award went to Disney+’s Hamilton.

The AFI Awards tributes will happen on February 26 on AFI’s YouTube channel.
