Anthony Hopkins & Glen Powell to Star in Action Thriller “Locked”

The Argentinian action thriller 4X4 is getting its big Hollywood remake titled Locked and its cast is shaping up to be pretty amazing. The Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins and Top Gun: Maverick’s Glen Powell will play lead roles in this promising project.

This character-driven thriller centers on a petty thief, who believes he struck gold after breaking into a luxury SUV. What seems like an opportunity of a lifetime quickly turns into a nightmare, after he realizes he’s stumbled into a deadly trap set by a mysterious figure.

Sam Raimi’s Raimi Productions will produce the project along with ZQ Entertainment, and he tapped David Yarovesky to direct the project after collaborating on Nightbooks.

“The script was so good and he’s such a good communicator that we were able to interest Anthony Hopkins, who for my generation is just about the greatest actor ever. Glen’s character has got a soul to him that’s slowly revealed as the picture goes on,” Raimi told Deadline.

Hopkins most recently reunited with Florian Zeller for The Son, after winning his second Oscar for his previous film The Father. Glen Powell is fresh off the success of Top Gun: Maverick, and he also appeared alongside Jonathan Majors in Devotion.

“Nomadland” Wins Big at a Scaled-Down Oscars Ceremony

After winning major awards left and right during this year’s awards season, Nomadland cemented its domination at the most anticipated ceremony of all—the Academy Awards. The poignant drama about life on the open road walked away with three Oscars—including best picture.

In addition to beating the likes of Mank, Minari, and The Trial of the Chicago 7 to win the biggest award of the night, Nomadland came out victorious in two more categories. Frances McDormand became one of seven people in history to win her third acting Oscar while Chloé Zhao became the second female filmmaker to walk away with the best director trophy.

Another historic moment came when Anthony Hopkins managed to beat the late Chadwick Boseman in the best actor category and become the oldest person to win this award. The supporting acting categories were much easier to predict and the awards went to the expected winners—Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah) and Youn Yuh-jung (Minari).

The list of major winners at the ceremony included Emerald Fennell (best original screenplay for Promising Young Woman), Thomas Vinterberg (best international film for Another Round), and Christopher Hampton and Florian Zeller (best adapted screenplay for The Father). Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Sound of Metal, and Mank were amongst the movies with two awards, mostly in technical categories.

The 93rd Academy Awards were held on April 25th at Union Station and Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
