Multiple outlets report that a sequel to the Marvel feature is officially in the works. 

Disney, which has officially launched the development of the sequel is also in final negotiations with Megan McDonnell to pen the script. McDonnell is currently serving as scribe on WandaVision, the Marvel-based series is set to debut later this year on Disney+. 

The follow-up to the 2019 pic is still untitled, and a released date has yet to be announced. 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who co-wrote and directed the 2019 pic will not return to the forthcoming follow-up. 

Captain Marvel, Marvel’s first female-centric movie earned over $1.1 billion at the global box office.
