]]>In July, a new teaser for the show confirmed that its release date had been pushed back to 2021. Now, Deadline reports that the production itself, which was scheduled to begin later this year, will not begin until next year as well. According to reports, however, the delay will not have a major impact on the show’s release date as the producers are optimistic about getting the job done in time.
The franchise’s creator Don Mancini is the showrunner for the series and he will team up with the doll’s original voice actor Brad Dourif. Jennifer Tilly is also reported to be involved in the series. She played Tiffany in Bride of Chucky and three more sequels.
The show follows the events in a small town after a vintage Chucky doll turns up in a garage sale, marking the beginning of a series of gruesome murders.

]]>A Chucky TV series is in the works at Syfy. The cabler is teaming up with Chucky creator Don Mancini for a new terrifying TV series.
“I’ve long wanted to bring Chucky to television and Syfy is the perfect network for us,” said Mancini. “The show will be a fresh take on the franchise, allowing us to explore Chucky’s character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format, while staying true to the original vision that has terrorized audiences for over three decades now.”
This will be the first time the red-haired, freckled-faced doll possessed by the soul of notorious serial killer, Charles Lee Ray will be adapted for television. Mancini will write the adaptation as well as serving as executive producer alongside David Kirschner and Nick Antosca.
“It’s very rare that you get the opportunity to bring such an iconic character to your network, let alone with the original creator attached,” said Bill McGoldrick, NBCU Cable Entertainment president of scripted. “We look forward to working with Don, David and Nick on putting their blood, sweat, and more blood into bringing the Chucky story to television.”
