Christina Applegate was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis ahead of the final season of Dead to Me, and this might be her last live-action role. The Emmy-winning actress is planning to stop acting in front of the camera and mostly focus on voiceover work in the future.

Applegate recently sat down with Vanity Fair to discuss her plans for the future and said she’s done working in front of the camera. She’s not sure what the future holds in the face of her multiple sclerosis diagnosis, but she wouldn’t mind if Dead to Me was her last live-action project.

“Ping-pong is so much more fun when the other person is just as good as you are. I’m probably not going to work on-camera again, but I’m so glad that I went out with someone who is by far the greatest actress I’ve ever worked with in my entire life,” she explained while discussing the acclaimed Netflix dramedy that she filmed alongside Linda Cardellini.

Applegate also discussed the animated series based on Married… with Children, the 80s sitcom that put her on the map. She’s attached to reprise her role alongside Ed O’Neill, Katey Sagal, and David Faustino, but this project is still in the early stages of development.

Dead To Me already gave us two shocking and hilarious seasons—but all good things must come to an end. Netflix renewed this dark comedy for its third season, which will also be its last.

Dead To Me follows the journey of two grieving women, played by Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini, who form a powerful bond after a tragedy brings them together in an unexpected way.

Showrunner Liz Feldman described Dead To Me as “an incredible gift”, and thanked the members of the creative team who joined her on this incredible journey.

“Telling a story sprung from grief and loss has stretched me as an artist and healed me as a human. I’ll be forever indebted to my partners in crime, my friends for life, Christina and Linda, and our brilliantly talented writers, cast and crew,” said Feldman in a statement.

Netflix’s vice president of comedy series, Jane Wiseman, praised her for bringing her “fresh and distinct point of view” to this series and said the streamer is looking forward to expanding their working relationship with Feldman in the future.

Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini gave us one of Netflix’s best black comedies with Dead to Me, and they’re ready for another wild ride. The second season is coming our way next month, and the first teaser is here.

The season 2 trailer kicks off with a voiceover saying, “I just want things to go back to before. Before everything happened.” It obviously refers to the bloody pool scene from last season’s finale, as Jen and Judy deal with its aftermath.

The short clip doesn’t reveal much of the plot, but tiny glimpses of season 2 are just enough to pique our interest and make us want to tune in when Dead to Me returns to Netflix. Luckily, we won’t have to wait for too long. The new season is expected to start streaming on May 8th.

Dead to Me premiered on Netflix last year, and it focuses on an unlikely friendship between two women who are dealing with grief on their own terms. In addition to Applegate and Cardellini, the series also starred James Marsden, Max Jenkins, and Sam McCarthy.
