Based on Frederick Forsyth’s novel of the same name, The Day of the Jackal centers on a professional assassin hired by a French paramilitary dissident to kill French President Charles de Gaulle. This novel had been adapted into a 1973 film, but the new adaptation will be a contemporary reimagining set amidst the current turbulent geo-political landscape.

Gareth Neame of Carnival Films, who’s executive producing alongside Redmayne, Nigel Marchant, Sky Studios’ Sam Hoyle, and Marianne Buckland, said he’s excited to join forces with this first-class creative team.

“We are excited to bring to life Ronan Bennett’s re-imagining of Forsyth’s revered thriller in the complex world in which we live today. And are incredibly fortunate to have an actor of Eddie’s caliber as our Jackal,” said Neame in a statement.

The Day of the Jackal marks Redmayne’s first TV project since The Pillars of the Earth 13 years ago. His rise to prominence started a few years later, and he went on to win an Oscar for The Danish Girl and star in the Fantastic Beasts film series and acclaimed films The Theory of Everything, The Trial of the Chicago 7, and The Good Nurse.

Based on the trial of seven people following the peaceful protests that turned violent at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, the film follows the infamous four and a half month trial of the organizers of the protest—Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Tom Hayden, and Bobby Seale.

In the trailer, we see the courtroom tension and what occurred on the steps of the courthouse with demonstrates chanting “The whole world is watching.”

Sacha Baron Cohen stars as Abbie Hoffman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Richard Schultz, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Bobby Seale, Eddie Redmayne as Tom Hayden, and Jeremy Strong as Jerry Rubin.

Also starring in the film are Kelvin Harrison Jr, Frank Langella, William Hurt, Michael Keaton, and John Carroll Lynch.

The Theory of Everything co-stars teamed up after four years, for an epic adventure biopic called The Aeronauts. The first photo from the upcoming movie is here and it seems they’ve taken this reunion 2,000 feet high.

The Aeronauts centers on pilot Amelia Wren and scientist James Glaisher. They go on a balloon expedition, with the hope they’ll fly higher than anyone ever did. Couple’s adventure quickly turns into an epic fight for survival and pushes them to the edge of existence. According to producer Todd Lieberman, the actors were ready to take things to the next level and face everything their characters did.

“A top priority for us on The Aeronauts is authenticity. With that in mind, we intend to do as much balloon filming in the sky as the weather will allow. This image was taken after we launched Felicity and Eddie 2,000 feet in the air, performing their scripted scene, while a helicopter captured it all.” said Lieberman.

Before joining this project, Jones and Redmayne starred opposite each other in The Theory of Everything. They both received an Oscar nomination for their masterful portrayals of Stephen and Jane Hawking, and Redmayne even went home with the coveted Best Actor award in hand.

Congratulations are in order for Felicity Jones who wed her beau in a secret ceremony over the weekend.

The 34-year-old has been dating director Charles Guard, who is known for his 2009 film The Uninvited, since 2015 and became engaged in May 2017.

In 2014, The Theory of Everything actress admitted to being a romantic, telling The Telegraph, “I am definitely romantic and I love romantic stories — that’s why I keep making romantic movies. It’s funny how seeing a love story never gets boring because it’s the dream, isn’t it? It’s the dream to have a true connection with another human being.”

Felicity’s connection with her 45-year-old fiancé was officiated on Saturday at Sudeley Castle in the Cotswolds, Oxfordshire in England.

Famous faces were amongst the attendees, including Tom Hanks, and Felicity’s Oscar-winning co-star in the Stephen Hawkins biopic, Eddie Redmayne.

The theoretical physicist, who battled with motor neuron disease for most of his life, passed away onMarchh 14, aged 76.

Despite being an atheist, Hawking’s family decided to hold the funeral at Great St. Mary’s Church in Cambridge, near to the university where the late professor had taught for over 50 years.

Those in attendance at the service included Star Wars: The Last Jedi actress, Lily Cole, Barbra Broccoli who produces the James Bond franchise, Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, and Eddie Redmayne who played Hawking in the 2014 film, The Theory of Everything.

The movie, based on the book my Hawking’s former wife, Jane, earned Redmayne an Academy Award for his role and Felicity Jones an Oscar nomination for playing Jane.

At the time of Hawking’s death, Redmayne said, “We have lost a truly beautiful mind, an astonishing scientist and the funniest man I have ever had the pleasure to meet.”

During the public service, the 36-year-old gave a reading from the Book of Ecclesiastes.

Hawking’s body will be cremated, with his ashes being interred at Westminster Abbey near the grave of Sir Isaac Newton.
