Daenerys Targaryen may be an undefeatable Mother of Dragons, and it now appears as though the woman behind her is undefeatable too.

Emilia Clarke has revealed in an essay published by The New Yorker that she is lucky to be alive.

“On the morning of February 11, 2011, I was getting dressed in the locker room of a gym in Crouch End, North London, when I started to feel a bad headache coming on,” she wrote in the piece entitled A Battle for my Life. “I was so fatigued that I could barely put on my sneakers. When I started my workout, I had to force myself through the first few exercises.”

The Game of Thrones actress continues by detailing how the pain intensified and she became violently ill. The episode led her to the conclusion that her “brain was damaged” and she was taken from the gym to the hospital where she had an MRI.

“The diagnosis was quick and ominous: a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a life-threatening type of stroke, caused by bleeding into the space surrounding the brain. I’d had an aneurysm, an arterial rupture. As I later learned, about a third of SAH patients die immediately or soon thereafter. For the patients who do survive, urgent treatment is required to seal off the aneurysm, as there is a very high risk of a second, often fatal bleed. If I was to live and avoid terrible deficits, I would have to have urgent surgery. And, even then, there were no guarantees.”

Despite having surgery, Emilia developed another smaller aneurysm on the other side of her brain that doctors said could pop at any time. Even so, she continued filming Thrones. “If I am truly being honest, every minute of every day I thought I was going to die,” she says of season 2.

Two more surgeries were required, both with more painful recoveries than the first, but Emilia says she is now at 100%.

Nothing takes down Khaleesi.

Maisie Williams has just kicked Game of Thrones finale rumors into high gear with a single bloody post.

21-year-old Williams has been starring on the hit HBO fantasy as Arya Stark since she was 12 and had quickly become a fan favorite.

The starlet took to social media to bid farewell to the show, sharing a farewell post on Instagram after wrapping her final day on set.

She captioned the photo of herself wearing bloodied-up white sneakers with “Goodbye Belfast. goodbye Arya. goodbye Game of Thrones. what a joy I’ve had. here’s to the adventures to come.” Following that came a hashtag that immediately caused rumors to whirl among GoT fans: #lastwomanstanding.

With storyline and character details kept in complete secrecy, it’s safe to assume that Williams actually meant that she is the last female cast member to finish filming. Some fans pointed out that the show is filmed out of sequence so the post isn’t telling of how far Amelia Clarke’s character made it in the final season.

This goodbye post comes just two weeks after Clarke herself shared her adieu from the show, writing, “Hopped on a boat to an island to say goodbye to the land that has been my home away from home for almost a decade. It’s been a trip @gameofthrones thank you for the life I never dreamed I’d be able to live and the family I’ll never stop missing #💔#lastseasonitis.

Production on the eighth and final season of Thrones has been in production since October. The six-episode season is set to premiere in 2019.

Emilia Clarke doesn’t believe in weak women.

The English actress is best known for playing Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones, whose purpose throughout 7 seasons has been sailing across the Narrow Sea, freeing slaves, and trying to reclaim her kingdom.

Sounds pretty bad-ass, right?

But, the 31-year-old does not want herself or any other female leads to be described as “strong”.

Describing the habit by journalists as “sexist”, Emilia stated at the Cannes Film Festival: “If it’s not strong, what is it? Are you telling me there’s another option, that there’s a weak option? You think a lead in a movie is going to be a weak woman? It just doesn’t even bear having the conversation, so enough already with the strong women, please.”

Yes, ma’am.
