American girl group Fifth Harmony decided to take some time off and announced on Monday that they are going on an indefinite hiatus. According to the statement that was posted on Fifth Harmony’s social media accounts, the reason behind the hiatus is that the girls want to pursue their solo careers. Previously, Camilla Cabello left the group in December 2016 and launched a successful solo career, scoring number one on the US Billboard 200 with her debut album.

“Reflecting on the past six years since we started on X-Factor, we’ve realized just how far we’ve come and we appreciate everything so much, more now than ever,” they wrote in a statement. “We’ve really had one hell of a memorable journey together and can’t begin to express our gratitude to y’all for coming along with us on this wild ride. After six years gong hard, non stop, we also realized that in order to stay authentic to ourselves and to you, we do need to take some time, for now, to go on hiatus from Fifth Harmony in order to pursue solo endeavors.”

They also thanked their fans for the support and added that their scheduled shows will happen as planned. You can read the full statement below.

Fifth Harmony was formed in 2012, during the second season of the singing competition show The X Factor and consisted of Ally Brooke, Normani, Dinah Jane, Lauren Jauregui, and Camila Cabello. The group finished third in the competition and released two highly acclaimed albums, 2015’s Reflection and 2016’s 7/27. After Cabello left the group, Fifth Harmony continued as a four-piece, releasing a self-titled third studio album in 2017. Album debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200, and received positive reviews from the critics.
