]]>This promising project is based on Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents, the bestselling book by Pulitzer Prize winner Isabel Wilkerson. Plot details are currently being kept under wraps, but the original book explored a system of hierarchy that has shaped America and the way it impacted people of color.
Caste started filming in December last year, and its acting ensemble is as impressive as it gets. The cast includes Aunjanue Ellis, Niecy Nash-Betts, Jon Bernthal, Vera Farmiga, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Nick Offerman, Connie Nielsen, and Audra McDonald.
As for its newly-cast stars, Blair Underwood previously worked with DuVernay on the mini-series When They See Us, and his recent credits include Quantico, Dear White People, and Self Made. Victoria Pedretti is a newcomer to DuVernay’s world, and she’s best known as the star of the Netflix shows The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and You.
Isha Blaaker rose to prominence with the role on HBO Max’s The Flight Attendant, while Finn Wittrock starred in several of Ryan Murphy’s shows, including American Horror Story, Ratched, and The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.

]]>Wittrock, the first actor cast in the show, will play Guy Gardner, a “hulking mass of masculinity, and, as rendered in the comics, an embodiment of 1980s hyper-patriotism”, as reported by Variety.
The series, which is based on the DC Comics property, was first announced as being in development in 2019 and ordered to series last year. The story starts on Earth in 1941 with the very first Green Lantern, secretly gay FBI agent Alan Scott, and goes to 1984 with alpha male Gardner and half-alien Bree Jarta. Joining them will be other Lanterns from the comic book favorites as well as never-before-seen heroes.
10 episodes of Green Lantern have been ordered by HBO Max. The series is co-written and executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Seth Grahame-Smith, and Marc Guggenheim, and Grahame-Smith serves as showrunner. Also executive producing are Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter, David Madden, and David Katzenberg. Elizabeth Hunter and Sara Saedi are co-executive producing.
Wittrock is best known for his collaborations with Ryan Murphy, starring in multiple seasons of American Horror Story as well as American Crime Story, and Ratched. His other credits include The Big Short, The Last Black Man in San Fransisco, If Beale Street Could Talk, and Unbroken.

]]>Murphy’s frequent collaborator Sarah Paulson, who received a Golden Globe for American Crime Story, will play titular character in Ratched. Her involvement is nothing new, but Murphy finally revealed who’ll be joining her on this incredible journey.
He shared the list of 10 actors who’ll also star in Cuckoo’s Nest prequel, including Cynthia Nixon, Sharon Stone, Judy Davis, Corey Stoll and Finn Wittrock. It’s still a mystery who they’re going to play, and it’s unclear if any of the original characters will make a comeback.
This promising series will be set in 1947 and it will track nurse Ratched’s murderous progression through the mental health care system. It will be Murphy’s first collaboration with Netflix – this streaming service ordered two seasons, consisting of nine episodes each.
