Netflix has announced that we’ll get a 4th and final season of the wrestling drama GLOW only to cancel the renewal earlier this week. Now, one of the show’s stars Marc Maron is trying to bring closure to both the crew and the viewers. He calls for a production of a  two-hour movie that will tie all the loose ends.

In a video the actor posted on his Instagram account he said: “I think what they should do is ‘OK you don’t want to make a show again, but let us make a movie’. Right? I mean, let us wrap it up in a two-hour Netflix movie. They had the whole season laid… we know which way it’s going to go. Why don’t you give the showrunners and the writers and the cast the opportunity to finish the story in a movie? Right?”

He also addressed the issue of the financial burden caused by the ongoing pandemic. He claimed that once you already have the script you can be economical in the movie shooting itself.

After announcing that Glow would be returning for a fourth and final season more than a year ago, in August 2019, Netflix has reversed the renewal.

The Emmy-nominated wresting drama was inspired by the short-lived 1980 wresting TV show of the same name, which stood for “Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling”.

The series starring Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Marc Maron, Sydelle Noel, Kate Nash, Britney Young, Gayle Rankin, Kia Stevens, Sunita Mani, Jackie Tohn, Kimmy Gatewood, Britt Baron, Rebekka Johnson, Ellen Wong, Chris Lowell, Marianna Palka, Shakira Barrera, and Bashir Salahuddin, is about a troupe of female professional wrestlers.

Netflix has decided to scrap the fourth and final season due to production delays caused by the COVOD-19 pandemic.

“We’ve made the difficult decision not to do a fourth season of GLOW due to COVID, which makes shooting this physically intimate show with its large ensemble cast especially challenging,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement. “We are so grateful to creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, Jenji Kohan and all the writers, cast and crew for sharing this story about the incredible women of GLOW with us and the world.”

Glow joins the list of Netflix shows, including The Society and I Am Not Okay With This, that have had their renewals reversed due to the pandemic.

GLOW has been renewed for a fourth and final season.

The news was announced by Netflix Friday.

GLOW hails from series creators, executive producers, and showrunners Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch. The series takes a look at the personal and professional lives of a group of women who perform for a wrestling organization of the same name in Los Angeles during the 1980s.

“People are in very different places than they were the last time they were in Los Angeles,” Mensch tells Entertainment Weekly. “There’s been a really fun Vegas impact. None of our characters are actually where they were, now that I’m doing the math. For such a character-driven show, for us the setting or the location isn’t as important to us as where people are in their lives — where Ruth is, where Debbie is, Carmen’s headed for a pretty drastically different place, a lot of the women at the end of season 3 don’t even know the potential opportunities ahead. As we’re heading to some pretty new territory for us, even if maybe the landscape looks familiar, can you go home again, can you never go home again are all things that we’re excited to dive into.”

Season 3 debuted in August.

There’s a new girl in town!

Geena Davis has joined Season Three of ’80s-set professional wrestling drama, GLOW.

The Academy-award winning actress is set to play Sandy Devereaux St. Clair a former showgirl turned entertainment director of the Fan-Tan Hotel and Casino, the backdrop for the third season. She is set to will star in a total of five of the 10 episodes.

Created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, the series follows the characters of a 1980s syndicated women’s professional wrestling circuit, the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling aka GLOW.

Season Three will see the women quickly realize Sin City is much more grind than glitter. Ruth’s (Alison Brie) passion for the show begins to take a backseat to her increasingly complicated personal life. Debbie (Betty Gilpin) is making headway as a producer but finds it hard to cope with the distance from her son. As their Las Vegas residency wears on, the lines blur between performance and reality and the women find themselves struggling with their own identities.

Season Three of GLOW debuts August 9.
