]]>Controversy has plagued the third volume of the Marvel series after director James Gunn was fired.
The filmmaker’s dismissal was linked to tweets he made in the past. In spite of apologizing and s mass petition calling for his return, Disney stood by its decision to fire him.
Production on Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3 began in August, but lasted only a day before more than 20 crew members were told to leave and find other work.
With the film seemingly in limbo, Chris Pratt has given us some hope. Whilst at the premiere for The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, the newly-engaged star told Variety, “I promise there’ll be a third movie, I don’t know exactly what that’s going to look like, but I know everyone on board is just eager to give the fans what they want and wrap up a trilogy in a meaningful way.”
Let’s hope it’s soon.

]]>Director and screenwriter James Gunn was fired by Disney earlier this year following the emergence of some unsavory Tweets that were dug up from his past. Since his firing, many people have spoken out in the director’s defense. Cast member Dave Bautista has been particularly vocal and even threatened to leave if Gunn’s script wasn’t used.
Fans of the franchise have decided to get even more proactive and have crowdfunded to get a “Rehire James Gunn” billboard put up outside of Disneyland, California. They managed to raise $4,850 last month to pay for the billboard and are now trying to get another one put up.
On their funding page, the fans wrote that the purpose of the campaign was to “raise money for Rehire James Gunn billboards outside Orlando and Anaheim Disney Parks” with the goal of putting up “one billboard near each park for at least one month, preferably during the holidays to maximize exposure.”
They added: “Should we fail to raise enough money for at least one billboard for one month, all money will be refunded to contributors…Please contact us if you are willing/able to help. Every little bit helps! Thank you to all of our Guardians of the Galaxy family!”
If you’re a #Marvel fan, especially #Guardians, #RehireJamesGunn Fam has a #Halloween treat for you. A billboard is now up in Anaheim to tell @RobertIger & @Kevfeige to do the right thing – bring James Gunn back to the #GuardiansFamily. Will you please share & tell them the same? pic.twitter.com/19Of9V5pnq
