Hard rock icons Guns N’ Roses decided to spice up the reunion of the band’s classic lineup with a new song titled “Absurd.” The track is considered the group’s first new release since 2008’s album Chinese Democracy.

The more fitting description for “Absurd” would be “newish,” as it actually represents the reworked version of the song “Silkworms.” The tune was written during sessions for Chinese Democracy but was never released in its original form. However, the Guns N’ Roses did perform it several times during their live shows in 2001.

The band also debuted the track live earlier this week during a show at Fenway Park in Boston.

“Some of you might have heard this under another name, but this is really kind of absurd to try this,” said frontman Axl Rose while announcing the song.

Following the release of “Absurd,” one YouTube user shared the live version of “Silkworms” taken from the band 2001’s concert at House of Blues, Las Vegas.

Guns N’ Roses classic lineup members Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan, set aside their differences in 2016 and decided to embark on a worldwide Not in This Lifetime… tour. The tour was a big success and became one of the highest-grossing in history.

Since the reunion took place, the band expressed interest in recording a new album together. Rose, Slash, and McKagan even confirmed that they are working on new songs, although it is unclear when the project might actually be released.

After his family released a new single by Cornell in July, the late Chris Cornell’s cover of Guns N’ Roses Patience has just topped the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs charts.

The cover was released on July 20th, the day that would have been Cornell’s 56th birthday. A statement on his Facebook page read: “His birthday seemed the perfect time to share this and celebrate Chris, his voice, music, stories, and art. It is true a man is not dead while his name is still spoken…and, through his art, an artist’s soul still burns just as bright as ever upon all those that look up to him and his memory. Releasing music that was special to Chris keeps a part of him here with us—his heart and his soul. His love and his legacy.”

“It’s Cornell’s second No. 1 as a soloist and first as a solo lead,” Billboard notes. “He previously ruled for two weeks as a featured vocalist on Zac Brown Band’s Heavy Is the Head in May 2015. Prior to Patience, Cornell had risen as high as No. 2 as a lead artist with Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart in November 2015.”

The original song was part of Guns N’ Roses’ 1988 EP GN’R Lies. Cornell opened for Guns during their Use Your Illusion world tour as the frontman of Soundgarden.

Rock legends Guns N’ Roses have announced the dates for their rescheduled U.S. tour last week. Now, the hard rock band also announces the tour dates for the U.K. and European leg of the tour.

“Hey Gunners, picking up where we left off last week, most of our 2020 European tour dates are being rescheduled to June of 2021,” the band wrote in its statement. “The dates kick off in Lisbon, Portugal on June 2, 2021.” However, the band said that due to issues with venue availability and routing a few of the originally scheduled shows could not be rescheduled and had to be canceled.

“We are forever grateful for your understanding and continued support during these unprecedented times. We are looking forward to getting back on stage,” the band said.

Until the tour will take off, the band is working on some new music. guitarist Slash said earlier this month: “I’ve been jamming with Duff [McKagan, bassist] and I’ve been jamming with Axl [Rose, frontman] and I’ve been doing stuff like that, so we’ve been getting some work done that way. But I haven’t been doing much else.”

Nothing smells as sweet as a new album!

It’s been a whopping 10 years since Guns ‘N Roses released new music, but all that patience might have paid off…

The band’s guitarist, Richard Fortus, has revealed that a new album is on its way.

Lead singer, Axl Rose, first whet our appetites earlier this month when he said, “We can’t do what’s next until we finish this, right? Now that all that’s done, we can get on with things,” during a concert in Hawaii.

Now those hints have been confirmed by Fortus who stated on KSHE radio station, “We are going to try to do another record and get it out soon. I think it will happen faster than you think. Axl’s got a lot to write about.”

The rockers, who have been around since 1985, are still touring, but according to Fortus, will take a break, though “If we have [a record] out, then we could tour.”

We’re just gonna keep knockin’ on heaven’s door.
