]]> The people who brought Aladdin to life in live-action are now working on doing the same to another cartoon character – Inspector Gadget. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who produced Aladdin are now producing the new remake of the bumbling cyborg-inspector tales.

The movie’s script will be written by Mikey Day and Streeter Scidell, who are best known for their work on Saturday Night Live. They are also writing the reboot of Home Alone that is currently being developed by Disney+.

Inspector Gadget was a Canadian-American co-production in the 1980s and 1990s that followed the titular character, voiced by Don Adams, and his struggles with the crime organization M. A. D., led by the evil Dr. Claw. He used a vast array of gadgets in his endeavors. His niece Penny and her dog Brain were the real brains behind him.

The series was adapted to a live-action film by Disney in 1999. The film starred Matthew Broderick as Gadget and Rupert Everett as Dr. Claw.
