]]>Each year, this day sees the band giving a rendition of the national anthem before the game. But as this year Major League Baseball is played with no crowd, guitarist Kirk Hammett and frontman James Hetfield played their version of The Star-Spangled Banner virtually from their Metallica HQ studio rather than coming physically to AT&T Park. The duo played wearing the Giants shirts, with Hammett taking the lead supported by Hetfield.
In addition to the anthem rendition, bassist Robert Trujillo delivered the ceremonial first pitch of the game. Trujillo had thrown the ball in a distant parking lot.
“To be able to support the hometown team in the best possible way, it’s a huge honor,” Hammett said before the game. “The thing about the anthem is that musically, it’s not difficult to play, but when you execute it, you have to execute it perfectly, you can’t mess up any notes, because everyone knows that tune.”

]]>The biopic already has Zac Efron portraying Ted Bundy, while the rest of the cast includes Lily Collins, John Malkovich, Jim Parsons, Haley Joel Osment, Angela Sarafyan, Jeffrey Donovan, Terry Kinney, Kaya Scodelario, and Dylan Baker.
The movie will be directed by Joe Berlinger, who already worked with Hetfield on the documentary Metallica: Some Kind of Monster and wrote a book about his time with the band titled Metallica: This Monster Lives.
“Having spent hundreds of hours behind the scenes with James and the rest of Metallica, I have experienced his charisma and powerful presence close up,” – said director Joe Berlinger in a statement. “It seemed only natural that he would bring that same power and magnetism to a dramatic role, so when he agreed to my pitch that he be in the movie, I was thrilled.”
The production for the Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile started in January 2018, but the release date for the movie has not been revealed yet. Unlike some previous movies about Ted Bundy, the story of this one will be shown from the perspective of his girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer (played by Lilly Collins).
