Jim Carrey gave us one of his best performances in recent years in the critically acclaimed comedy Kidding, but Showtime decided to cancel this show after two seasons.

The network released an official statement announcing that Kidding concluded its run on Showtime, thanking the creative masterminds responsible for bringing this show to life. “We are very proud to have aired this imaginative, critically acclaimed, and rewarding series, and we would like to thank Jim Carrey, Dave Holstein, Michael Aguilar, Michel Gondry, and the entire cast and crew for their brilliant and tireless work,” reads Showtime’s statement.

Kidding centered on the beloved children’s television presenter Mr. Pickles, who tries to keep his show running as his family falls apart. It was directed and executive produced by Michel Gondry, who previously worked with Carrey on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

The cast of this Golden Globe-nominated show also included Frank Langella, Judy Greer, and Catherine Keener.

The new season of Jim Carrey’s show Kidding is here, and it features a surprise appearance from none other than Ariana Grande! The Grammy-winning artist can be seen delivering the song “Stick Together” alongside Carrey and Catherine Keener in the show’s latest episode.

Kidding tells the story of children’s television icon Jeff Piccirillo, who’s been hosting television program Mr. Pickles’ Puppet Time for three decades. Grande appears in this fictional show in the role of Piccola Grande, the Pickle Fairy of Hope.

Grande, who already has a lot of acting experience thanks to her breakthrough role in Victorious, announced she’ll appear on Kidding back in August and said she had a great time working alongside her childhood idol Jim Carrey.

“Nothing is crazier than getting to work with and spend time with someone whom you’ve idolized and adored since before you could speak. Actually, what’s even crazier is discovering that person to be more special and warm and generous in person than you ever could’ve imagined,” wrote Grande on Instagram.
