After the first movie became a box-office hit, it was announced that two sequels will round up the Jurassic World trilogy. The second movie, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be released on June 22, 2018, with J. A. Bayona (A Monster Calls) serving as a director and Trevorrow writing a script with Derek Connolly.

It was announced earlier that the script for the yet-untitled third movie will be written by Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim: Uprising) and Trevorrow with a release date being scheduled for June 11, 2021.

“It’s important to this franchise that we welcome new creative voices to keep our storytelling fresh and alive,” said Trevorrow in a statement. “I’m thrilled with the tension and beauty J.A. has brought to the Fallen Kingdom, and I know Emily will add another layer of emotion to the concluding chapter of our trilogy.”

Colin Trevorrow was also attached to direct the Star Wars Episode IX in 2015 and started working on a script for the movie with Derek Connolly. By the September 2017, however, Trevorrow left the project due to creative differences with the studio. His latest directing effort was 2017’s The Book of Henry.
