Festivities have been taking place throughout the United Kingdom over the last few days as Britain celebrates 70 years since Queen Elizabeth II took to the throne.

The Queen was just 25 when her father, King George VI, passed away, resulting in her becoming the reigning monarch. Seven decades later, she has become the only British royal in history to commemorate a Platinum Jubilee.

Ahead of the star-studded concert on Saturday evening, Her Majesty appeared in a pre-recorded clip with another much-loved icon as the pair sat down to tea in Buckingham Palace.

“Perhaps you would like a marmalade sandwich,” says Paddington Bear before pulling said snack out of his hat. “I always keep one for emergencies.”

“So do I,” responds the 96-year-old Queen. She then reaches into her handbag. “I keep mine in here. For later.”

The Queen did not attend the Party at the Palace, but the royal family was indeed represented. Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children were amongst the 20,000 people who watched Adam Lambert and Queen (naturally), Sir Elton John, and Alicia Keys rocking out in front of the Palace.

The event also included performances by the London casts of famous musicals such as Hamilton, The Phantom Of The Opera, The Lion King, Six, and Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat.

We hope everyone remembered to pack a marmalade sandwich or two.

Kate Middleton and Prince William took to their Instagram account to mark the occasion with never-before-seen family pictures. 

The Pics include an adorable snap of Kate and William with their eldest two children, Prince George, 6, and Princess Charlotte, 4, being playful on the grounds of the family’s country home in Norfolk, England, a picture of the duchess as a baby held by her mother Carole Middleton, as well as a portrait of Prince William and Prince Harry as kids, sitting with their mom Princess Diana.

The Rule and Duchess captioned the pics with, “To mothers new and old and families spending today together and apart — we are thinking of you all at this difficult time. Happy Mother’s Day ”

April 29th marked the 7th wedding anniversary of the now Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Catherine.

Before they had 3 children, William and Kate were former university flatmates who began dating in 2003, and split up before rekindling their romance in 2007.

The couple wed in 2011 at Westminster Abbey in front of 1,900 guests, where the future queen wore a gown by Alexander McQueen which cost more than $400,000.

Love Me Like You Do singer, Ellie Goulding, entertained around 300 guests at an evening reception in Buckingham Palace’s Throne Room.

To commemorate the occasion, Kensington Palace posted a photo on Instagram of the then-newlyweds in an Aston Martin Volante which was decorated with balloons and a license plate that read “Ju5t Wed.”

2018 marks a big year for the royal family with two royal weddings, a royal baby and the Queen’s 65th Coronation anniversary.

On Monday, the 69-year-old welcomed another grandchild when his daughter-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine Middleton, gave birth to her third child.

The newborn, who weighed 3.8 kilograms, is 5th in line to the throne following the implementation of the Succession to the Crown Act in 2015.

In an official announcement released by Clarence House, the Prince of Wales joked that he does not know how he will be able to keep up with all his grandchildren.
