]]>Kim’s Convenience centered on a Korean-Canadian family running a convenience store in Toronto’s Moss Park neighborhood. Back in spring 2020, the show was renewed for additional two seasons, but this plan fell through after its co-creators Ins Choi and Kevin White decided to move on to other projects.
“Authenticity of storytelling is at the center of the success of Kim’s Convenience … Given their departure from the series, we have come to the difficult conclusion that we cannot deliver another season of the same heart and quality that has made the show so special,” reads the official statement released by producers.
The statement also acknowledged the complications of shooting the series during the pandemic, while promising this will be the finest season to date. Season 5 of Kim’s Convenience is currently airing on CBC and it’s expected to wrap up on March 23rd.
