Twenty One Pilots pulled the plug on their “never-ending” music video for “Level Of Concern” last week, but the impressive six-month run was enough to get them a Guinness World Record.

The popular duo asked the fans to submit clips for the song’s visuals back in June and used them to automatically generate new footage each time “Level of Concern” was played. The project, developed with director Jason Zada, went on for 178 days before being coming to an end on December 16th.

When all was said and done, Guinness “checked out the stats” and “declared it officially the longest video ever.”

“Level of Concern” was released in April, serving as a standalone single. The song was written and recorded at the beginning of the pandemic, with the group wanting to encourage hope during these testing times. It ended up becoming quite popular, performing well on the charts and being certified gold in the U.S., Brazil, and Canada.

Twenty One Pilots are currently working on their new album, the successor to 2018’s Trench. Vocalist Tyler Joseph confirmed this news on social media in November, but the release date and details remain unknown.

Twenty One Pilots have dropped a regenerating “Never-Ending” music video for “Level of Concern.”

After three minutes and forty seconds, the video starts over again and there’s a constant stream of imagery submitted by fans that are within the shots from the original “Level of Concern” video.

The theme of the song is lockdown with the lyrics, “Won’t you be my little quarantine?” and it’s been No. 1 on the alternative chart radio for the past six weeks since it was released.

Prior to the video’s Tuesday morning release, Twenty One Pilots set up a landing page for an alternative reality game with puzzles and clues to be unlocked to get to the video upload link. The game and video were developed by Jason Zada with the band. To complete the game, 20 clues had to be solved and they were hidden everywhere from the original closed captions of the “Levels of Concern” video to a glitched photo file.

Fans can submit footage of 3-30 seconds for the video here.

“Level of Concern” is the band’s first release since the Trench album two years ago. In addition to the original video and the fan-footage video, Twenty One Pilots released a “live from outside” alternative version and filmed another one for “The Tonight Show.”
