The massive lineup of this year’s festival will also include The 1975, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Odesza, Tomorrow X Together, and Karol G. Lollapalooza organizers made sure to make fans of many different genres happy and made a few historic choices along the way.

Karol G, who recently gave us the first all-Spanish album by a woman to top the US Billboard 200 chart, will become the first female Latin artist to headline the festival. This year’s Lollapalooza will also be quite special for K-pop fans, with Tomorrow X Together (TXT) making history as the first K-pop group to headline the festival.

Lollapalooza 2023 will take place at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois between August 3-6. The list of performers will feature around 170 artists, including Fred Again.., A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Carly Rae Jepsen, Rina Sawayama, Pusha T, Lil Yachty, 30 Seconds To Mars, Sabrina Carpenter, Diplo, Joey Bada$$, Maggie Rogers, and more.

Foo Fighters, Post Malone, Tyler, The Creator, Miley Cyrus, DaBaby, Marshmello, Illenium, Megan Thee Stallion, Roddy Ricch, and Journey are headlining the festival. The lineup also includes Young Thug, Alison Wonderland, Brittany Howard, LAUV, Kim Petras, Omar Apollo, Ashe, LP, Jacob Banks, Olivia O’Brien, Princess Nokia, Trevor Daniel, and more. 

Lollapalooza joins other festivals to be returning this summer including the three-day hip-hop festival Rolling Loud, which will take place July 23-25, and Governors Ball Festival in September.

“Here in Chicago, the word ‘Lollapalooza’ has always been synonymous with summer, great music and four days of unforgettable fun – which made last year’s decision to postpone it all the more difficult,” said Chicago Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot in a news release.  “Now, less than a year later and armed with a vaccine that is safe, effective and widely available, we are able to bring back one of our city’s most iconic summer music festivals. I want to thank the Lollapalooza team for working closely with the City to create a reopening strategy that prioritizes safety and can’t wait to see festivalgoers return to Grant Park this summer.”

Music fans will be able to enjoy 150 different performances over 4 days of broadcast—including live and recorded sets. All shows will be broadcast via YouTube. 

The virtual event will include performances by H.E.R., Kali Uchis, Kaskade, Louis the Child, Vic Mensa and other artists. Some of the recorded shows include artists such as  LCD Soundsystem, Chance the Rapper, Metallica, OutKast and Paul McCartney.

The festival will also include live panels hosted by Chicago Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot who will talk with the festival’s co-founder Perry Farrel and LL Cool J, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, Public Enemy frontman Chuck D, Matt Pinfield and others. We will also get to see a tribute to David Bowie.

Lollapalooza suffered a decline in its lineup quality over the last few years and when it was announced last month that the event was cancelled, some suggested it would be a good idea for the festival to take a year off and come back in 2021 with renewed strength. The festival organizers, apparently, do not agree.

If you’re thinking of being there between August 1-4, you should book your ticket ASAP because it’s just a matter of time before they’re sold out.

Lollapalooza isn’t the only major festival that will have Ariana Grande and Childish Gambino as headliners. They will be performing at Coachella this April, and Grande is also scheduled to take part in this year’s Manchester Pride.

She is currently busy with the Sweetener world tour, which kicked off with the first concert in Albany, New York on March 18. She’s scheduled to perform a total of 80 shows, including 52 in North America and 28 in Europe.
