]]>What makes The Crown’s victory so impressive is the fact it picked up the awards in all of the categories it was nominated in. In addition to walking away with the outstanding drama series award, it also received trophies in all four drama acting categories and picked up trophies for outstanding directing and writing for a drama series.
Ted Lasso won the award for outstanding comedy series, while its stars Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, and Brett Goldstein picked up acting awards in their supportive categories. HBO Max series Hacks also had a strong showing and picked up three awards, including the outstanding lead actress in a comedy series for Jean Smart.
When it came to mini-series, Mare of Easttown stars Kate Winslet, Evan Peters, and Julianne Nicholson brought its award total to three. The critically acclaimed HBO drama, however, failed to beat The Queen’s Gambit and missed out on the award for outstanding limited or anthology series.
The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards were held on September 19th, with Cedric the Entertainer hosting the festivities.

]]>Brad Ingelsby will serve as showrunner, after coming up with a story of a small-town Pennsylvania detective, who deals with her personal demons while solving a local murder. All the episodes will be directed by Gavin O’Connor, whose credits include Warrior and The Accountant.
Winslet previously starred in HBO mini-series Mildred Pierce, and went on to win a Golden Globe for playing titular character in this project. Oscar winning actress decided to shift to TV because she was always a bit of risk taker and wanted to sink her teeth into something bigger.
Winslet obviously enjoyed the experience, but admitted she wasn’t prepared for the pressure and commitment that filming a TV show can bring, and even said film is almost like a holiday in comparison to television.
