In a press release, Manson describes the album as a concept album. “When I listen to We Are Chaos now, it seems like just yesterday or as if the world repeated itself, as it always does, making the title track and the stories seem as if we wrote them today,” he said. 

“This was recorded to its completion without anyone hearing it until it was finished. There is most definitely a side A and side B in the traditional sense. But just like an LP, it is a flat circle and it’s up to the listener to put the last piece of the puzzle into the picture of songs,” Manson continued. “This concept album is the mirror Shooter and I built for the listener—it’s the one we won’t stare into. There are so many rooms, closets, safes, and drawers. But in the soul or your museum of memories, the worst are always the mirrors. Shards and slivers of ghosts haunted my hands when I wrote most of these lyrics.”

Showrunner Chic Eglee announced the amazing news in an official statement and said it’s “dope indeed” to be working with Manson because he’s been a long-time admirer of his work.

“Bringing his specific energy, wit and boundless enthusiasm for all-things-Neil Gaiman to the role of Johan, a Norse ‘berserker’ in service to Odin, his performance promises to be disturbing, original and uniquely entertaining,” said Eglee.

This won’t be Manson’s first ride on the rodeo, and he actually has a long list of acting credits behind him. The Grammy-nominated artists previously appeared on Sons of Anarchy and Salem, and American Gods isn’t the only series he’s attached to these days.

Judging by his future commitments, we’ll get to see Marilyn Manson more than we used to, since he’ll appear on several promising shows next year. He’s been cast on The New Pope and The Stand in unspecified roles.

HBO confirmed Friday that Sharon Stone and Marilyn Manson will guest star on the forthcoming series The New Pope.

They join Jude Law who starred in the first installment as the leader of the Catholic Church and is set to reprise his role, as well as the previously announced John Malkovich.

While no further details have been divulged by the premium cabler, the previously released first-look images of Malkovich and Law, feature them both in similar papal vestments so it’s fair to assume that the sequel will feature two popes, much like the recent real-life situation that resulted in there being two living popes for the first time in centuries. From Manson’s first-image it seems that the provocative persona will portray a character very similar to his real-life self.

Other returning cast members include Cecile de France, Ludivine Sagnier, and Silvio Orlando.
