LL Cool J briefly appeared on the Season 2 finale of NCIS: Hawai’i, and it turns out this won’t be the last we see of him. He’s now expected to join Vanessa Lachey and Tori Anderson in the show’s third season in a guest-starring capacity.

NCIS: Hawai’i star Vanessa Lachey can’t wait to welcome LL Cool J on board and see him continue spreading the aloha by joining his third series in the NCIS franchise.

“One of the most beautiful things about working on NCIS: Hawai’i is the show’s ability to bring the franchise together. Now, we have the amazing opportunity to bring Sam Hanna to Hawai’i to help the island solve some cases and maybe have a few laughs in the process,” said Lachey in a statement.

LL Cool J debuted the  Sam Hanna role in the flagship NCIS series and went on to play the lead role in NCIS: Los Angeles, which ran on CBS for 14 seasons before ending its run this month.

Renewing NCIS for its 21st season is a no-brainer for CBS. This police procedural series became one of their signature shows following its premiere in 2003, and it spawned four successful spin-offs, including NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, and NCIS: Hawaiʻi.

NCIS: Hawaiʻi is the latest spin-off in this franchise, but CBS is betting big on this show and it gave it an early Season 3 renewal. CSI: Vegas also hasn’t been around for long, and it’s coming back for its third season during the 2023-2024 television cycle. It’s the last remaining CSI spinoff currently airing on this network.

Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, officially announced the renewal of these three shows and described them as a testament to the stellar work being done by their best-in-class talent in front of and behind the camera.

“This season CBS is continuing its winning tradition, delivering an unparalleled combination of top returning series and new hit shows that are entertaining huge audiences on both broadcast and streaming,” said Reisenbach in a statement.

NCIS: Hawai’i is executive produced by Matt Bosack, Jan Nash, and Christopher Silber, and it centers around the first female special agent in charge of NCIS Pearl Harbor. She’s risen through the ranks in a system that tries to bring her down. With her team of specialists, she investigates high-stake crimes.

FBI: International is executive produced by Dick Wolf, Derek Haas, Matt Olmstead, Michael Katleman, Arthur Forney, and Peter Jankowski, and it centers around elite operatives of the FBI’s International Fly Team who travel around the world from their headquarters in Budapest, with a mission of tracking threats against American citizens.
