Peter Pan & Wendy is the latest in the long line of adaptations of J.M. Barrie’s novel about Peter Pan, the boy who wouldn’t grow up. Disney previously adapted it into the 1953 animated classic, but we later saw several adaptations by other studios, including Steven Spielberg’s Hook, P. J. Hogan’s Peter Pan, and Joe Wright’s Pan.

Peter Pan & Wendy will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on April 28. It will star Alexander Molony as Peter Pan, Ever Anderson as Wendy Darling, Jude Law as Captain Hook, Yara Shahidi as Tinker Bell, with Alyssa Wapanatahk, Joshua Pickering, Jacobi Jupe, Molly Parker, Alan Tudyk, and Jim Gaffigan in supporting roles.

David Lowery, the director of Pete’s Dragon, is set to direct the film from a screenplay that he co-wrote with Toby Halbrooks based on the J.M. Barrie novel about Peter Pan, the boy who refused to grow up and the children he takes to the magical world of Neverland.

Disney’s 1953 animated classic remains the most successful adaptation of the novel although, since its release, many other studios have tried to make their own versions including Steven Spielberg’s Hook starring Robin Williams and Joe Wright’s Pan.

Peter Pan & Wendy will star Ever Anderson as Wendy and Alexander Molony as Peter Pan, and it was one of the many projects Disney paused in March due to the coronavirus.

If Law takes the role, he will follow Dustin Hoffman, Jason Issacs, and Garret Hedlund who have played Hook in the past.

This year, Disney released Aladdin and The Lion King live-action adaptations which grossed $1 billion at the global box office. A sequel is already in the works for the Aladdin live-action film.

Law’s most recent work was in HBO’s The New Pope and Paramount’s Rhythm Sections. He’s also set to reprise his role as Dumbledore in the next Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film.
