]]>The production of Mission: Impossible 7 is set to resume in September in the UK and move to Poland in April. There, during one of the scenes, the production intends to actually blow up a local bridge that was built in 1909 near the village of Pilchowice.
The local residents, however, are not happy with the idea. They are trying to push for their government to recognize the bridge as a national monument, thus preventing its destruction. Deputy Culture Minister, Pawel Lewandowski, said that the gained publicity from this stunt is worth the sacrifice. “I would not be fixated on the fact that the Pilchowicki Bridge is a monument,” said the deputy minister. “It stands in ruins and has no value. Not all old things are monuments.”
He also claimed that only part of the bridge will be destroyed and that the production will give financial backing to the rebuilding of the bridge alongside revitalization funds provided by the Polish government.
