The scripted eight-part event series is being developed under the working title Excellence: 8 Fights, and it’s based on the definitive biography Ali: A Life by Jonathan Eig.

The series will chronicle eight distinct and defining moments in Ali’s life, exploring the struggle going on in Ali’s heart and mind as he prepared for some of his most iconic fights, while also dealing with personal drama outside the ring.

BlackKklansman co-writer Kevin Willmott is coming on board as a writer, and he’s executive producing the project alongside Morgan Freeman and Lori McCreary’s Revelations Entertainment, Bridgerton alum Regé-Jean Page and Emily Brown. Page is only coming on board as a producer, and there’s no deal in place for him to star as Ali right now.

Muhamed Ali was most notably portrayed by Will Smith in the 2001 film Ali, which earned him a nomination for best actor. More recently, we’ve seen Eli Goree portray the iconic boxer in One Night in Miami…, a fictional retelling of his encounter with Malcolm X, Jim Brown, and Sam Cooke.

The second season of Bridgerton proved to be as much of a hit as its first as viewers watched Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma evolve from enemies to lovers. At the time of its release in April 2022, Season 2 resulted in Bridgerton becoming the most watched English-language television series on Netflix.

Someone who did not contribute to the 193 million viewing hours during the opening weekend, however, was Page. 

The 34-year-old actor stole hearts around the world as the Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset, in Season 1 of the period drama. Despite the role projecting him to stardom, Page confirmed that he would not be returning for the sophomore season, and has now revealed that he has not even seen it!

Much like the novel series on which the show is based, each season will focus on a different Bridgerton sibling. However, the Duke was noticeably missing when his wife, Daphne, attended family functions, due to Page’s decision not to reprise the role. 

It was hoped that The Gray Man star would reconsider, but he has again ruled that out. “They’re free to do as they like,” he said in regards to recasting the character. “You really do have to be brave about ending stories like that.”

Bridgerton has already been renewed for Seasons 3 and 4, with the next set to focus on Colin and Penelope.

This won’t be Page’s first collaboration with AGBO which belongs to Anthony and Joe Russo. He recently worked with the brothers behind Avengers: Endgame on The Gray Man, another Netflix production. 

Not many details have been released about the new project other than the creator of Fargo, Noah Hawley, will write and direct. 

Page will play executive producer on the flick, in addition to starring alongside Angela Russo-Otstot who portrayed Garcia in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and is Joe and Anthony’s sister.

Ever since Daniel Craig hinted that he no longer wanted to retain the part of James Bond, there has been speculation as to who would take over the role. 

Craig is the 7th actor to portray 007, following in the footsteps of Sean Connery, Roger Moore, and Pierce Brosnan. Having starred as the secret agent since 2006’s Casino Royal, the Knives Out star confirmed that No Time to Die would be his final outing as Bond. 

Several names have been thrown into the martini glass as Craig’s replacement, including Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, Regé-Jean Page, and even Gillian Anderson. But Bond’s producers are putting the whole idea on hold. 

“We’re not thinking about it at all,” said Barbara Broccoli. “We want Daniel to have his time of celebration. Next year we’ll start thinking about the future.”

Hardy is currently the bookies’ favorite with odds of 3/1.

Johnathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, who worked on the scripts for Spider-Man: Homecoming and Horrible Bosses together, will direct and write the script from a draft by Michael Gilio.

Dungeons & Dragons has been around for more than four decades and has been turned into video games, an animated TV show, and a few movies. This will be its first major studio film.

In addition to starring as the Duke of Hastings in Bridgerton, Page’s other credits include For the People, Mortal Engines, and Sylvie’s Love. The actor just announced he will be hosting Saturday Night Live and he was recently nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Bridgerton.
