Reaching the EGOT status is one of the highest honors in the entertainment industry, and four stars are one step closer to getting theirs following the Creative Arts Emmys last weekend. Adele, Eminem, Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr are now just a Tony away from EGOT status.

Adele: One Night Only was one of the biggest winners of the night with five trophies, including an outstanding variety special (pre-recorded). The British hitmaker already has 15 Grammy Awards under her belt, in addition to an Oscar for the best original song with “Skyfall”.

As for Eminem, he owes his triumph at the Creative Arts Emmys to his appearance at the Super Bowl halftime show this year. He’s a recipient of 15 Grammys, just like Adele, and he also won an Oscar for the best original song for “Lose Yourself” from 8 Mile.

Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr won their Emmys for producing the documentary The Beatles: Get Back. They both previously received an Oscar for the Beatles’ song “Let It Be”, in addition to several Grammys, both competitive and honorary.

The 74th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards took place across two nights on September 3 and 4, and they’ll be followed by the Primetime Emmy Awards on September 12.

Peter Jackson has never shied away from taking on big projects, but his next may be the grandest yet.

The director is best renowned for helming all three Lord of the Rings films, as well as the prequel trilogy The Hobbit. Both relied on CGI and other special effects, winning numerous awards.

The last project Jackson worked on was The Beatles documentary series, Get Back, which featured in-studio footage that was shot in early 1969 for the 1970 feature film Let It Be. The Oscar winner also directed a one-hour version of the Fabulous Four’s final rooftop concert that was released for IMAX theatres.

“It wasn’t as intense as making three Lord of the Rings back to back, but it was four years with a pandemic in the middle of it all,” he said of the series.

Jackson has now revealed that he is in discussions to develop a new film with the two remaining Beatles members, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.

“I’m talking to The Beatles about another project, something very, very different than Get Back,” the director told Deadline. “We’re seeing what the possibilities are, but it’s another project with them. It’s not really a documentary… and that’s all I can really say… We are never in a position where we have to do anything, but we’ve got a few things percolating.”

As for what the film could possibly be, the New Zealander has said, “It’s a live-action movie, but it needs technology that doesn’t quite exist at the moment, so we’re in the middle of developing the technology to allow it to happen.”

We hope it’s able to all come together.

The world almost saw a Beatles reunion back in 1973.

Fans were devastated when the pop-rock group split up in 1970 after 10 years and 12 albums together. But the Beatles’ drummer Ringo Starr has now revealed that there was almost a chance to see the quartet unite on stage, but that they chose to “let it be.”

Following Lennon and Ono’s brief separation, Paul McCartney flew to Los Angeles to visit his old mate and the pair spent time in the recording studio which naturally prompted rumors of a reunion.

According to Starr, the “Hey Jude” rockers were offered a substantial sum of money to perform a concert where the opening act was set to be a man wrestling with a shark…

“We called each other and said no,” said the drummer. “We were taking our own roads now.”

Each member of The Beatles went on to have a successful solo career, with no possibility of a reunion following Lennon’s untimely death in 1980.

The Beatles’ album Abbey Road, that turned 50 this year, is considered to be the last studio album released by the band (Let it be was released a year later but was recorded mostly before Abbey Road), but as it turns out there was to be at least one more album after it. Drummer Ringo Starr has recently confirmed in an interview with BBC 6 Music that there wasn’t any decision “set in stone” to wrap things up. “We did do Abbey Road and we was like, ‘Okay that’s pretty good…but none of us said, ‘OK, that’s the last time we’ll ever play together. Nobody said that,” said Starr.

With that, Starr confirms a recent tape that was discovered by a Beatles expert, Mark Lewisohn, containing Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and George Harrison discussing how they would break down the songwriting duties for a new record (four songs each from Lennon, McCartney, and Harrison alongside two from Starr).

The Guardian published the recording that also captures some of the tension that still hung between the band’s members. According to Lewisohn, it rewrites all that was thought about the last days of the band – as it was believed that Lennon wanted to break them up.

The Beatles drummer Ringo Starr and Bee Gees singer Barry Gibb have been knighted by Queen Elisabeth II New Year’s honors list. The list also contains other familiar names, including Strictly judge Darcey Bussell who has been made a dame and House star Hugh Laurie, who has received Commander of the British Empire (CBE) medal.

Ringo Starr became the second member of the Beatles who received this honor after Paul McCartney was knighted 20 years ago. All four members of the band received MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in 1965.

“It’s great!” said Ringo. “It’s an honor and a pleasure to be considered and acknowledged for my music and my charity work, both of which I love. Peace and love.”

Starr, real name Sir Richard Starkey, has been knighted for both his contributions to music and charity efforts. After the Beatles disbanded, the drummer embarked on a successful solo career, releasing 19 studio albums. His last album titled Give More Love was released in September 2017 and featured an appearance from McCartney.

Barry Gibb also said he was “humbled and very proud” by his knighthood. Before receiving a knighthood, Gibb was made a CBE in 2002, alongside his late brothers and bandmates Maurice and Robin.

“It is as much theirs as it is mine.” said Gibb. “The magic, the glow, and the rush will last me the rest of my life.”

Gibb released his second solo album titled In the Now, in October 2016, although he previously said he was considering quitting music after deaths of his brothers. The album marked the first new material release since the last album of Bee Gees, 2001’s This Is Where I Came In.
