On Sunday, The CW dropped a brand new trailer for its Riverdale spinoff starring Lucy Hale as the titular character. 

Joining the Pretty Little Liars star for the series, which takes place five years after Riverdale are Ashleigh Murray, Jonny Beauchamp, and Julia Chan as Katy’s circle of friends. Zane Holtz is Katy’s boyfriend, while Katherine LaNasa Murray is her intimidating boss.

Per the official logline, “Their world is populated with kindred-spirit starving artists, including mysterious socialite Pepper Smith (Chan) and Broadway-bound performer Jorge Lopez — and his drag queen alter ego, Ginger (Beauchamp). While their climb to the top is rife with obstacles, this found family will stop at nothing to see their names in lights.”

While The CW has yet to confirm a premiere date, according to the trailer, Katy Keene is slated to debut “soon.”

The Pretty Little Liars star, Lucy Hale, has been tapped to star as the lead of the eponymous series Katy Keene. The spinoff hails from Riverdale creator and executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

The spinoff follows the lives of four iconic Archie Comics characters — fashion legend-to-be Katy Keene (Hale) and singer/songwriter Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray) — as they chase their dreams in New York City. The musical dramedy chronicles the origins and struggles of four aspiring artists trying to make it on Broadway, on the runway and in the recording studio.

Keene’s character is described as a twenty-something aspiring fashion designer. When she’s not working as a personal shopper at a luxury department store, she’s navigating friendship and dating in the big city.

The series is penned by exec producer Aguirre-Sacasa along with Michael Grassi. Maggie Kiley will direct the pilot.

The CW has officially put in pilot orders for two spin-off series. 

The Riverdale spin-off titled Katy Keene, will follow the lives and loves of four iconic Archie Comics characters, including fashion legend-to-be Katy Keene, as they chase their dreams in NYC. The musical dramedy comes from writers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Michael Grassi. 

News of a Jane the Virgin spin-off was confirmed by star Gina Rodriguez who stars as Jane Villanueva in the original series. Rodriguez took to Instagram Wednesday to announce that the network has officially given the green light to a new series titled Jane the Novela.

“We got good news from the CW! Jane will be birthing a SPIN OFF!!!!! Jane The Novelas!!!” Rodriguez wrote alongside her sweet pic of herself and her son Mateo.

Jane the Novela, is an anthology series in the tradition of Jane the Virgin. Each season will be based on a different fictional novel penned by Jane Villanueva (Rodriguez) and narrated by the author. 

The network’s pilot list also includes The Lost Boys in addition to the previously ordered Batwoman pilot.
