]]> The recent sale of Taylor Swift’s old masters for the rumored $300 million shook the music industry, but she found a way to take her destiny into her own hands. The 10-time Grammy winner announced she’s entered the process of re-recording her old catalog.

In a recent tweet, Swift reflected on the sale of her old masters to Shamrock Holdings that took place over a year after Scooter Braun acquired Big Machine Label Group. Swift released a total of six albums through this record label and she’s currently in the process of re-recording most of them.

“I have recently begun re-recording my older music and it has already proven to be both exciting and creatively fulfilling. I have plenty of surprises in store. I want to thank you guys for supporting me through this ongoing saga, and I can’t wait for you to hear what I’ve been dreaming up,” wrote Swift on Twitter.

As of this month, the singer is free to re-record songs from her first five albums issued by Big Machine Label Group. Her masters still belong to this label, but she’ll be able to own her music by recording new versions of her old songs and use them for commercial ventures and live performances.
