]]>The follow-up to the origin story starring Jason Momoa as the titular character was meant to hit screens next March, but issues at Warner Bros. has pushed back the release date. As a result, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will only be released on December 25, 2023.
Another film feeling the effects of the studio restructuring is the Shazam! sequel. Shazam! Fury of the Gods was initially set to premiere this December, but will instead come out on March 17, 2023—Aquaman’s original date.
The moves follow the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery, Inc in April this year. The head of the Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group stepped down in May, leading to DC Films, Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema, and Warner Animation Group all receiving their own leadership. Warner Bros. Discovery has been looking to spread out the marketing and distribution costs associated with releasing a studio tentpole, resulting in Aquaman and Shazam! being shuffled on the calendar.
Although the delay is disappointing, fans of both franchises can breathe a sigh of relief that the movies didn’t suffer the same fate as Batgirl which was totally shelved, despite being complete and costing $90 million to produce.

The setting of the teaser is too dark to uncover more, which is something that Shazam! addresses at the end of the clip by saying that it “probably would have been a good idea to have like one light on.”
Sandberg captioned the trailer with “coming soon…ish,” reminding the fans of the long wait that is ahead of them. Shazam! Fury Of The Gods is currently on track for a June 2, 2023 release date.
The first Shazam! movie was released back in 2019, receiving positive reviews and earning $366 million at the box office. The sequel entered the development shortly after, with Sandberg, Levi, and writer Henry Gayden all agreeing to return. Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu, and Rachel Zegler joined in major roles later on.

His first appearance is in Justice League: The Darkseid War: Shazam! #1.
Shazam 2 will be the first superhero movie appearance for Mirren. She also has several other projects lined up in the future, including the ninth installment in The Fast and The Furious film series and war drama White Bird: A Wonder Story.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods was originally scheduled for release in 2022, but the date was pushed to the summer of 2023 due to a coronavirus pandemic. The movie will mark the return of David F.
