Pratt’s casting was met with some disapproval due to his non-Italian background, but he recently addressed the fans’ concerns and promised there’s nothing to be worried about.

“I worked really closely with the directors and trying out a few things and landed on something that I’m really proud of and can’t wait for people to see and hear… It is updated and unlike anything you’ve heard in the Mario world before,” Pratt told Variety.

Illumination Studios founder and CEO Chris Meledandri also curbed criticisms during a recent appearance at the CineEurope convention. He said that “the criticism will evaporate” when people hear Chris Pratt’s performance.

In addition to Pratt, the upcoming Super Mario film also star Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Charlie Day as Luigi, and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad. It will be released in the United States on April 7, 2023, and start streaming on Peacock 45 days later.

Unlike many other movies based on video games—including Sonic the Hedgehog which came out last year—Universal’s version of the Super Mario Bros. will be animated.

The film is only set for release at the end of next year, but it has already bagged quite an impressive cast.

Chris Pratt will lend his voice to the titular Italian plumber who finds himself having to fight off baddies in the Mushroom Kingdom. Charlie Day from Horrible Bosses will join the Avengers star as Mario’s brother Luigi as the pair try to save Princess Peach who will be voiced by The Queen’s Gambit star, Anya Taylor-Joy.

Every superhero movie needs a supervillain, and so Jack Black will play Bowser, while Seth Rogen, Keegan-Michael Key, Fred Armisen, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Sebastian Maniscalco will also feature. 

The games begin on December 21, 2022.

The group, that is dedicated to remaster the movie may include it in a future Blue Ray release of the movie.

The scene was found on an old VHS tape that was auctioned on eBay by producer Roland Joffé. It shows the two plumbers face Doug and Mike, two rival plumbers who stole a plumbing job from them.

Super Mario Bros. was directed by Rocky Morton and Annabel Jankel, and it features Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo as the Italian brothers fighting King Koopa, played by Dennis Hopper.
