2022 is bringing several satirical movies about the uber-rich our way and The Menu seems to be one of the very best. The first trailer gave us a taste of things to come and it sees Ralph Fiennes playing an enigmatic chef cooking up a scary feast for his entitled guests.

According to its official logline, The Menu centers on a young couple (Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult) traveling to a coastal island to eat at an exclusive restaurant where world-famous Chef Slowik (Fiennes) has prepared a lavish menu, with some shocking surprises.

In the trailer, Chef Slowik promises “this menu, this guest list, this entire evening has been painstakingly planned,” but we quickly come to learn that serving picture-perfect Michelin-style dishes wasn’t the only thing that he had in mind.

The Menu was directed by Mark Mylod, who previously helmed episodes of Succession, Shameless, and Game of Thrones. It’s based on the script of Seth Reiss and Will Tracy, with Adam McKay and Betsy Koch serving as producers. In addition to the main trio, its cast includes Hong Chau, Janet McTeer, Judith Light, John Leguizamo, Rob Yang, and Aimee Carrero.

The Menu will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before heading to theatres on November 18.

Anya Taylor-Joy has been pretty busy since The Queen’s Gambit made her a household name, and she’s been scoring roles in one exciting project after another ever since. The next one in line is the comedic psychological thriller The Menu, also starring Ralph Fiennes.

According to its official logline, this promising project is “set in the world of eccentric culinary culture, centering on a young couple who visit an exclusive restaurant on a remote island where an acclaimed chef has prepared a lavish tasting menu.”

Fiennes is set to play the role of the acclaimed chef, while Taylor-Joy will join him as one-half of the couple. The Menu will be directed by Mark Mylod, who most recently found success as the director and executive producer of the critically acclaimed HBO show Succession.

The Menu isn’t the only exciting project that Taylor-Joy has on the way. We’ll soon get to see her play one of the lead roles in Edgar Wright’s next film Last Night in Soho. She’s also set to reunite with Robert Eggers in The Northman, and star alongside Christian Bale and Margot Robbie in David O. Russell’s upcoming period comedy.
