Season 2 of The Twilight Zone, the modern-day re-imagining of the original sci-fi anthology from Rod Sterling, was unveiled Monday, ahead of the show’s June 25 premiere on CBS All Access.

“The series’ second season uses introspection and self-exploration to usher viewers into a dimension filled with endless possibilities,” said the streamer, while keeping rather mum on all other details. 

Peele reprises his role as host. Morena Baccarin, Kylie Bunbury, Jenna Elfman, Ethan Embry, Sky Ferreira, Tavi Gevinson, Topher Grace, Tony Hale, Gillian Jacobs, David Krumholtz, Thomas Lennon, Sophia Macy, Natalie Martinez, Joel McHale, Chris Meloni, Gretchen Mol, Paula Newsome, Billy Porter, Jimmi Simpson, Jurnee Smollett, Daniel Sunjata, and Damon Wayans Jr., will reprise their guest roles.

Details about the biopic are still not clear, but it seems Sterling’s life and work are a fitting subject matter for Kelly who specializes in the areas between horror and Science Fiction. Sterling was known as the “angry young man of Hollywood” due to heated argument and clashes with television executives and corporate sponsors over a myriad of social issues such as racial equality or censorship.

Donnie Darko showed young Jake Gyllenhaal trying to deal with his personal life and his increasing feelings of doom manifested in a giant bunny. It struggled in the box office initially but since then has gathered a cult following.

The Twilight Zone, Sterling’s most famous creation’s original run was between 1959 and 1964. It is considered a classic in the science fiction genre. The show even got a reboot on CBS by filmmaker Jordan Peele. The reboot is now renewed for season 2.

Julie McNamara, executive vice president of original content at CBS All Access, revealed that The Twilight Zone attracted a record-breaking number of viewers on its premiere date, so it was just a matter of time before they officially renewed it.

“Jordan [Peele], Simon [Kinberg], the creative team and cast have done a phenomenal job translating the series’ legacy of socially conscious storytelling for modern-day audiences. They are master storytellers, and we look forward to bringing fans further into The Twilight Zone with a second season,” said McNamara in an official press release.

In addition to developing and executive producing this show, Peele serves as the new narrator on The Twilight Zone. The star-studded cast also includes the likes of Taissa Farmiga, Ginnifer Goodwin, Kumail Nanjiani, Chris O’Dowd and Seth Rogen.

According to Deadline, Rogen joins the previously announced Greg Kinnear, Kumail Nanjiani, John Cho, Ike Barinholtz, Taissa Farmiga, Ginnifer Goodwin, Luke Kirby, Sanaa Lathan, Adam Scott, Rhea Seehorn, Alison Tolman, Jacob Tremblay, Jessica Williams, DeWanda Wise, and Steven Yeun, and will star in an upcoming episode of the revival. 

According to the outlet, there’s no additional details about Rogen’s character nor any hint about which episode he is set to appear in. But considering the show’s affinity to the spooky and eerie  as well as twist endings, fans are sure not be disappointed. 

The cult classic has been revived by CBS All Access. It is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions. Peele will also serve as the show’s host and narrator.

The original series aired from 1959 to 1964 and was hosted and narrated by Rod Serling. 

Following its April Fool’s premiere, the show will air weekly on Thursdays.

The Walking Dead star has joined the new anthology series for CBS All Access. According to The Hollywood Reporter Yeun will lead an episode titled “The Traveler” in the upcoming rebooted series.

Not surprisingly, no other information about his role was revealed.

The 34-year-old actor the previously announced John Cho (Searching), Allison Tolman (Fargo), Jacob Tremblay (Room), Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation) and Sanaa Lathan (The Affair).

Oscar-winning director Peele is also executive producing the series and serving as the narrator.

The show revolved around a variety of topics and featured episodes in different genres including fantasy, science fiction, and thriller. The first The Twilight Zone revival was attempted by CBS in 1985. It lasted for three seasons, and although it didn’t match the success of the original series, it gained favorable reviews from the critics and audience. The United Paramount Network (UPN) attempted to revive the series once again in 2002, with Forest Whitaker serving as a host, but the show ended up being canceled after just one season.
