]]>Ben Falcone, who previously worked with McCarthy on Tammy, The Boss, Life of the Party, and Superintelligence, is directing the superhero comedy.
In the trailer, Lydia (McCarthy) reunites with Emily Stanton (Spencer), her childhood best friend, who is a successful scientist that created technology that gives people superpowers. Lydia accidentally takes the formula for super strength, which leads to the first real-life superhero team. After a new villain known as “The King” (Bobby Cannavale) shows up, the superheroes must rise up to save Chicago from evil.
The trailer also gives a sneak peek of Crab Man (Jason Bateman), who we’re not sure if he joins the superheroes or supervillains.
The film also stars Pom Klementieff, Melissa Leo, Tyrel Jackson Williams, Sarah Baker, and Melissa Ponzio.
Thunder Force is set to be released on April 9.

]]>Should the duo join the poject, it will be the first time Oscar-winning Spencer and Oscar-nominated McCarthy make a joint screen appearance.
Directing the original Netflix superhero comedy is McCarthy’s husband, Ben Falcone. He is also penning the script as well as serving as producer alongside McCarthy and Marc Platt.
The husband and wife duo are frequent collaborators, having previously worked on Tammy (2014), The Boss (2016), and Life of the Party (2018).
According to Entertainment Weekly, the story would focus on the two characters getting superpowers. All other storyline and character details have been kept under wraps.
McCarthy’s credits include Can You Ever Forgive Me? and Bridesmaids; Spencer’s credits include The Help, The Shape of Water and Hidden Figures.
