Listen to Trent Reznor’s New Collaboration With Tobacco

The collaboration between the industrial rocker, Trent Reznor, and the avant-garde electronic artist Tobacco is continuing. In the past, Tobacco has been the opening act for Nine Inch Nails, both as a solo artist and as part of his group, Black Moth Super Rainbow. Reznor has even called Tobacco’s Sweatbox Dynasty the “record of the year” four years ago. Now, the two released a new track together.

“Babysitter” features weird gritty electronic sound and drumline and both the artists’ vocals are electronically modified almost to the point of incomprehensibility. The song is due to appear on Tobacco’s upcoming album, Hot Wet & Sassy, coming out on October 30th.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, Tobacco had expressed his satisfaction with Reznor’s contribution to his album. “‘Babysitter’ is like one of those experiments I need to do every once in a while, to see how far I can push it within the constructs of writing a song, without just making noise,” he said. “[It’s] edging. Probably not that different from how Taylor Swift does it.”

Last march, Reznor’s Nine Inch Nails released two albums Ghosts V: Together and Ghosts VI: Locusts. Reznor was also nominated for two Emmys along with bandmate Atticus Ross for their Watchmen score.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross Released Chilling Soundtrack of “Bird Box”

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross from Nine Inch Nails have reunited to release a soundtrack for Bird Box.

The duo have already released the album on their website for purchase but they will be dropping it on streaming services January 25.

“Like all soundtrack records we release, we aim for these to play like albums that take you on a journey and can exist as companion pieces to the film and as their own separate works,” Reznor and Ross said of the powerful score.

“We’ve created a significant amount of music and conceptual sound for Bird Box, a lot of which never made it to your ears in the final version of the film. We’ve decided to present you with this version of the soundtrack record that represents what Bird Box is to us. We hope you enjoy.”

Later on in the year, the Nine Inch Nails pair will be releasing a more padded out version of the tracklist. They say it will be “a more expansive physical-only offering… that will contain an additional hour of music and artwork that colors further outside the lines”

This expansive version of the soundtrack will be released in Spring.

Nine Inch Nails share their new track

Nine Inch Nails have shared their new song ‘God Break Down The Door’ from their brand new album ‘Bad Witch.’

The new track features a manic drumbeat and some mysterious saxophone sounds, which is a new shade for the group.

Speaking to Zane Lowe, Trent Reznor from NIN said: “We find if we don’t watch ourselves we tend to try to get some more comfortable with because it feels better. And from the sound of the drums to the kind of frantic drumbeat to looking around the studio and seeing the untouched baritone tenor and alto sax that are sitting there. They’re there because they remind me that I can’t play them as well as I used to be able to.”

“For 20 years, I’ve been saying I’m going of really get my technique back because it would be fun to do. And there they sit taunting me in the corner. We pulled them out and we just started f**king around really, led with Atticus arranging. I was just kind of going, an hour performance kind of turned into this thing that felt like we hadn’t been there before and that started to reveal a whole different character. The space changed and then we felt motivated. When it came time to sing I was really just trying things out, just to see. I never had the courage to sing like that, I didn’t know I could sing.”
