Paramount+ spokesperson shared an official statement announcing the show’s fate and thanked everyone who helped bring it to life.

“Paramount+ has made the difficult decision not to move forward with Season 3 of Why Women Kill. We would like to thank our partners at CBS Studios and Imagine Television Studios; the amazing creator and showrunner Marc Cherry; and the incredible writers, cast, and crew for two memorable seasons,” reads the statement by Paramount+.

This decision comes as a huge shocker because Why Women Kill was revealed to be “within the top 10 series on Paramount+ in terms of both overall engagement and new subscriber acquisition”. The production of the third season was slated to start soon, with Paramount+ negotiating with big-name actors to join the series.

This anthology series followed women living in different decades and dealing with infidelity and betrayals in their marriages that eventually lead to murder. Its cast included Lucy Liu, Ginnifer Goodwin, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Allison Tolman, and Lana Parrilla.

Multiple outlets report that the Veep star has been tapped to star in CBS All Access’ upcoming comedy drama. Why Women Kill hails from Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry. 

The comedy follows three women living in three different decades — a housewife in the ‘60s (Ginnifer Goodwin), a socialite in the ‘80s (Lucy Liu) and a lawyer in 2018 — each dealing with infidelity in their marriages. 

According to Deadline, Scott will play Eli a good-natured and smart enough to know that his sense of humor is the sexiest thing about him. He is a stay-at-home writer, married to Taylor (aka the lawyer). He’s happy with their unconventional marriage, pleased that both have the liberty to sleep with other people as long as they don’t bring their playmates home. However, all that is about to change when Eli allows Taylor to let her lesbian lover crash with them for the weekend.

Cherry will also executive produce alongside Marc Webb, who will also produce and direct.

Ginnifer Goodwin will star opposite the previously announced Lucy Liu in CBS All Access’ upcoming dark comedic drama. The series hails from Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry.

The casting news was announced by the streaming service Tuesday. 

Why Women Kill follows three women living in three different decades — a housewife in the ‘60s, a socialite in the ‘80s (Liu), and a lawyer in 2018. All three are dealing with infidelity in their marriages. 

According to Entertainment Tonight, Goodwin will play Beth Ann, whose story takes place in 1963. “She is kind, cheerful and warm. But if you get too close, you start to see that she wears a mask to hide her pain. Beth Ann’s whole world revolves around her husband, and so she is understandably defensive and immediately in denial when told Rob is having an affair. Determined to learn the sordid details for herself, Beth Ann is in for a life-changing shift of perspective,” per the official description. 

Goodwin is best known for her role as Snow White on Once Upon a Time. You can see her next on Jordan Peele’s upcoming Twilight Zone reboot and Netflix’s Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings.
