]]>The acclaimed Emmy-winning sitcom Abbott Elementary will return on February 7, with a one-hour premiere. The third season of the beloved comedy was initially supposed to kick off production back in May, but those plans were pushed in the face of the labor disputes in Hollywood.
Grey’s Anatomy and its spinoff series Station 19 are both set for the March 14 midseason premiere. Station 19 experienced a major scheduling shift, and it’s moving from 8 PM to 10 PM to make room for the fellow first responder drama 9-1-1. Only one crossover between Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 is planned for the upcoming season.
The list of returning ABC shows this midseason will also include the reality series The Bachelor, set for a two-hour premiere on January 22. It will be followed by a true crime series 20/20 (January 22), The Conners, Not Dead Yet, Judge Steve Harvey (February 7), and the two-hour premiere of American Idol on February 18. Will Trent, The Rookie, and The Good Doctor are all set to return on February 20.

]]>Fox’s cancelation of 9-1-1 doesn’t come as a shocker in the grand scheme of things, given its high production value that’s been costing Fox approximately $9 million-$10 million an episode. Its potential move to one of the Disney-affiliated networks has also been discussed after the studio acquired 20th Television with the majority of 21st Century Fox’s assets.
Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, confirmed the move and said it’s a privilege to keep telling more heart-racing and uplifting stories about the beloved 9-1-1 characters.
“Thanks to the creative drive of Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear, as well as the talented cast, 9-1-1 has been one of the most defining and original dramas on network television over the last six seasons and we are honored to bring it to the esteemed group of series on ABC,” he said in a statement.
Surprisingly enough, the hit spinoff series 9-1-1: Lone Star didn’t experience the same fate. Fox just renewed it for its fifth season, and it will remain on this network for the time being.
