]]>The trailer for The Show is an extraordinary sight. It promises a bizarre, mystical, trippy experience. It does not reveal a lot of the movie’s plot, though we do get to see Alan Moore himself covered in glitter.
The official synopsis of the movie reads: “Fletcher Dennis (Tom Burke), a man of many talents, passports, and identities, arrives in Northampton—a strange and haunted town in the heart of England, as dangerous as he is. On a mission to locate a stolen artifact for his menacing client, Fletcher finds himself entangled in a twilight world populated with vampires, sleeping beauties, Voodoo gangsters, noir private eyes, and masked avengers. He quickly sinks into a bizarre and delirious black hole, that is hidden just beneath the surface of this seemingly quiet town. Soon enough Fletcher discovers that dreams and reality have been blurred and there might no longer be a real-world to go back to… Welcome to The Show.”
Mitch Jenkins is the director behind the movie. This is his first feature movie. Mike Elliott, Tom Brown, and Jim Mooney produced the movie alongside Jenkins and Moore.
The Show is set to premiere at the Sitges Film Festival on October 12th.

]]>According to Moore, director Terry Gilliam tried to adapt the graphic novel to the big screen back in the 1980s. Moore said: “I remember he told me that he’d had a number of phone calls from David Bowie asking to play the Rorschach character.”
Unfortunately, the Gilliam version of Watchmen never came to life. The movie got an adaptation in 2009 and was directed by Zack Snider. Jackie Earle Haley portrayed the character of Rorschach. Ironically the character of Bowie himself made an appearance in one scene, played by J.R. Killigrew.
So how would a Terry Gilliam Watchmen movie starring David Bowie would look? As Moore says in the interview: “There’s an alternate world we can only imagine.”
A new Watchmen TV series premieres on HBO on October 20.

]]>Unlike Sneider’s movie, the new series will not be a direct adaptation of Moore’s graphic novel, but rather will tell a new story, set in the same world. However, the new trailer does let us glimpse some known and beloved characters, such as Dr. Manhattan or Rorschach.
“Those original twelve issues are our Old Testament”, wrote the series creator, Damon Lindelof. “When the New Testament came along it did not erase what came before it. Creation. The Garden of Eden. Abraham and Isaac. The Flood. It all happened. And so it will be with Watchmen. The Comedian died. Dan and Laurie fell in love. Ozymandias saved the world and Dr. Manhattan left it just after blowing Rorschach to pieces in the bitter cold of Antarctica”.
Lindelof is the creator of another successful HBO drama – The Leftovers – and he also worked on the mega ABC hit show, Lost. Regina King, Jeremy Irons, and Don Johnson will be some of the leading names starring in Watchmen.
Moore’s vigilantes desired Justice. We desire a new series that will deliver justice to the classic source material. In October, we will get to see if justice is done.
