Another adaptation of Stephen King’s work is upon us and this time it’s the acclaimed The Stand which is being adapted into a miniseries by CBS All Access. The miniseries production has just kicked off, as teased by one of the stars of the show, Amber Heard, on her Instagram account. The actress shared the front page of the series’ script.

But aside from teasers, the recent big news about the show is the casting of the face of evil himself. Randall Flagg, also known as the dark man, will be played by Big Little Lies and True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgård.

In the press release announcing his casting, the network wrote: “Also known as ‘the Dark Man,’ his unsettling and ever-changing presence is the embodiment of pure evil. Like Mother Abagail [Whoopi Goldberg], Flagg appears in plague survivors’ dreams but, unlike her divine messaging, his ultimate goal is far more sinister.”

As announced before The Stand will also feature James Marsden, Amber Heard, Odessa Young, Jovan Adepo, Owen Teague, Henry Zaga and Brad William Henke. It is also interesting to note that Alexander’s brother, Bill Skarsgård has recently played another one of KIng’s most infamous villains – Pennywise the murderous clown in IT.
