]]>Everything’s Going to Be Great has been described as “a valentine to big dreamers whose dreams won’t necessarily come true” and it’s expected the explore the themes of individuality vs. conformity and fantasy vs. reality.
At its very core, this film will tell a touching family story by taking us on a journey with the Smart family, as they move from one state to the next and cope with loss and struggle with identity—all while performing in regional theater.
In addition to Bryan Cranston and Allison Janney, this project will also star Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (The Haunting of Bly Manor) and Jack Champion (Avatar: The Way of Water).
Cranston is currently starring in Showtime’s crime drama Your Honor, and will soon appear in Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City and Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle. Allison Janney appeared in The People We Hate at the Wedding, Lou and To Leslie just last year, and we’ll soon see her in Gareth Edwards’ True Love and Apple TV+ series Mrs. American Pie.

]]>Lou follows an elderly woman living on a remote island, who is recruited by a neighbor to help her find her kidnapped daughter. Janney’s character has been described as “a rule-breaking woman with a tough shell and abilities as a tracker.”
J.J. Abrams’s company Bad Robot will be in charge of producing this project, and fans already started speculating if it’s one of Cloverfield sequel. Everything is possible since there’s always a lot of mystery surrounding each movie in this franchise, but nothing has been confirmed as yet.
Lou will be directed by Anna Foerster, who recently directed Underworld: Blood Wars and a couple of episodes of Outlander. Maggie McGowan Cohn was in charge of penning the script, with Jack Stanley doing the revision.

]]>The TV alumni were both nominated for Best Supporting Actress at this year’s Academy Awards for playing strong moms. Allison as Lavona Hardwicke in I, Tonya, and Laurie for Marion McPherson in Lady Bird.
And while Allison’s name was expected to be called (after having deservedly won every award in the lead up to her brilliant performance), part of our hearts still broke a little for Laurie.
That said, the Roseanne actress has no hard feelings.
“Allison and I go way back. We were both Oscar virgins. A lot of those nominees had been through this many times. So, it was fun to go through the whole circus, the runaway train, with her. We would see a lot of each other at these events and award shows. She sent me a beautiful bouquet of flowers after she won the Oscar.”
And just maybe, part of Laurie was relieved that her name wasn’t called on Oscar night: “I don’t like the idea of saying something on stage. It’s stressful, so when that doesn’t happen it’s OK. It’s like, ‘Congratulations, Allison.’”
Ah, Laurie, we’d give you a consolation Oscar if we could.
