Allison Janney is one of the actors who definitely wasn’t affected by the Oscar curse. She’s been landing new roles left and right after scoring Best Supporting Actress win for I, Tonya, and her latest seems to be the most intriguing one to date. Janney has just been cast as the lead in the upcoming thriller drama Lou.

Lou follows an elderly woman living on a remote island, who is recruited by a neighbor to help her find her kidnapped daughter. Janney’s character has been described as “a rule-breaking woman with a tough shell and abilities as a tracker.”

J.J. Abrams’s company Bad Robot will be in charge of producing this project, and fans already started speculating if it’s one of Cloverfield sequel. Everything is possible since there’s always a lot of mystery surrounding each movie in this franchise, but nothing has been confirmed as yet.

Lou will be directed by Anna Foerster, who recently directed Underworld: Blood Wars and a couple of episodes of Outlander. Maggie McGowan Cohn was in charge of penning the script, with Jack Stanley doing the revision.
