After years in the making, Wicked is finally hitting the theaters this fall, and its latest trailer is one wild ride. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande lead the way as two young witches Elphaba and Glinda, trying to fulfil their destines and forge their paths in the magical Land of Oz.
Universal describes Wicked as a spectacular, generation-defining cinematic event about two very different young women. Elphaba struggles to fit in with her peers at Shiz University due to her unusual green skin until she finds an unlikely ally in a privileged young witch Glinda.
“The two meet as students at Shiz University in the fantastical Land of Oz and forge an unlikely but profound friendship. Following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads and their lives take very different paths,” reads the film’s official logline.
Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande will lead the way as Elphaba and Glinda, who are destined to become Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West. They’ll be joined by Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, Bowen Yang, and Peter Dinklage in supporting roles.
Wicked will be released on November 27, while its sequel will hit the theaters in November 2025.
