]]>Even though we get a glimpse of the three notorious witches at the end of the trailer, the focus isn’t entirely on them this time around. The trailer opens with a younger generation of magic-obsessed teens bringing the Sanderson sisters back to life.
“It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve”, reads the film’s official logline.
The young cast includes Whitney Peak, Belissa Escobedo, and Lilia Buckingham, playing the trio of teenagers who accidentally resurrected the Sanderson sisters. Doug Jones (The Shape of Water), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Tony Hale (Veep), and Sam Richardson (The Afterparty) are also set to star.
Hocus Pocus 2 will premiere on September 30 and it will stream exclusively on Disney+.

]]>Multiple outlets report that original Hocus Pocus stars, Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker, are looking to return for the sequel.
The three stars are all interested in starring in the planned sequel of Disney’s Halloween classic, currently in development at Disney+.
“Oh my goodness me. Oh, I hope they get to me before I’m a corpse,” Midler told Entertainment Tonight. “We wanna fly again. I hope Disney+ is a big success and I hope we get to do it, because [Winifred] is, of course, one of my favorite characters…. I can’t wait to read the script. We’re gonna see what happens.”
“I don’t know if the worlds are going to collide so that we could all three do it at the same time,” Najimy added. “But I’m happy that it’s happening because the fans are really rabid and they really want it,” she added. “[And] if we’re not all available to star in it, I think it would be so great to do a cameo. I think that’d be really fun.”
Parker further fueled speculations by replying to a fan’s question about a possible sequel on Instagram with “We have all said yes. Now we wait.”

]]>The news that The 91st Academy Awards will feature a special performance by the two-time Best Actress nominee, was announced by Midler herself on Twitter Saturday.
“So, (drum roll) Ladies and Gentlemen, I will be chanteusing (that’s singing) on the Oscars on Feb 24…the nominated song from “Mary Poppins”…”The Place Where Lost Things Go” …so excited!!” she wrote and was immediately retweeted by the Academy.
The song was originally performed by Emily Blunt in Mary Poppins Returns. Both composer, Marc Shaiman and song are nominated for best original song. According to Variety, Shaiman is expected to accompany Midler on piano.
“As a child of the ’60s, I grew up obsessed with the Mary Poppins soundtrack, learning everything about songwriting and film scoring from it,” Shaiman wrote on Facebook. “As a teenager in the ’70s, I became obsessed with new star Bette Midler, who fate amazingly led me to, resulting in our 40-year relationship. Could I have ever imagined that one day Bette Midler would sing a song I co-wrote with Scott Wittman for a sequel to Mary Poppins at the Academy Awards?! My heart is exploding.”
The Oscars will be held on February 24 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
