It turns out that Luke Perry’s death in March was what changed her mind. Perry played Dylan McKay – Walsh’s boyfriend (in some of the show’s seasons).

“For me, I felt like it was honoring him and his memory and what he meant to the audience and the fans and to all of us,” the actress told Entertainment Tonight. “As his on-set family, I felt like it was an important time for all of us to come together to honor him.”

Originally both Perry and Doherty were not lined up to appear on the new reboot. The show had one reboot on the CW in 2008 and the new reboot is going to be a meta-take on the show, dealing with events in the lives of the actors as they prepare for another reboot of the show.

Perry died from a stroke earlier this year at the age of 52. His fellow actors have promised that his death and the fate of his character will be dealt with in the first episode of the show.

Jason Priestley, Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green, and Gabrielle Carteris are back and are doing it for real!

The short clip features the ’90s gang back together, armed with doll versions of their iconic characters at the Peach Pit. As the camera pulls back from the miniature set, Ziering says, “Yeah, you know what? I’m tired of all this. We should do this for real. What do you all say?”

Here’s the official logline: “Having gone their separate ways since the original series ended 19 years ago, Jason, Shannen, Jennie, Ian, Gabrielle, Brian, and Tori reunite when one of them suggests it’s time to get a Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot up and running. But getting it going may make for an even more delicious soap than the reboot itself. What will happen when first loves, old romances, friends and frenemies come back together, as this iconic cast — whom the whole world watched grow up together — attempts to continue from where they left off?”

According to Entertainment Weekly, the Top Chef Jr. cohost has been tapped to play Camille, a “high-powered publicist” who is “balancing her demanding career with the hopes of starting a family.”

Lachey joins the another previously cast fictional wife cast in the reunion series, La La Anthony. Anthony has been set to play Brian Austin Green’s onscreen wife. 

The onscreen spouses for the rest of the original cast members, Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth, and Gabrielle Carteris, have yet to be announced. 

The revival will reunite the original cast, who will play y exaggerated versions of themselves, with stories “inspired by their real lives and relationships.”

Multiple outlets confirm that Shannen Doherty will reprise her role as Brenda Walsh for Fox’s Beverly Hills 90210 reboot.

The limited series will reunite the original stars of the iconic teen-drama including Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green Tori Spelling, and now Doherty. The cast will play an exaggerated version of their real-life selves, with storylines “inspired by their real lives and relationships with each other.”

Luke Perry who played Dylan on the original Dylan McKay, did not sign onto the reboot because of his previous commitment to Riverdale. According to Deadline, the series is expected to pay tribute to McKay.
