]]>This won’t mark Blade’s first appearance on the big screen – the iconic vampire hunter was famously portrayed by Wesley Snipes in three films by New Line Cinema. Marvel is completely rebranding the character in the new film, with Yann Demange directing and Michael Starrbury writing the script.
There’s still a lot of mystery surrounding Marvel’s new take on Blade, and plot details are being kept under wraps. Ali previously made an uncredited voice cameo as Blade in Eternals, but we still haven’t seen his character on the big screen.
Blade will premiere on September 6, 2024, as the final film of the MCU’s Phase Five. This will give Marvel a lot of wiggle room to potentially tease his appearance in one of the post-credit scenes in other Phase Five films, including Captain America: New World Order and Thunderbolts.
Blade isn’t the only exciting project that Goth has on the way. She’s set to reprise the role of Maxine Minx, in the upcoming third installment in the X slasher trilogy, titled MaXXXine.

]]>Snipes recently made an appearance at the Toronto Film Festival, where his new movie Dolemite Is My Name had its world premiere. This wasn’t the only project he discussed with the reporters since a question about his return to the Blade franchise naturally came up.
While chatting with ET Canada at TIFF, Wesley Snipes said he’s open to the prospect of working with Marvel in some capacity in the future.
“Maybe I’ll come back as some other type of character. Who knows? You never know! I mean, you know, I’ve been up and down with the Marvel clan from day one so you never know. I can do a lot of different things,” said the actor.
Snipes’ Marvel casting will have to wait since he’s pretty busy with other projects – including the highly-anticipated sequel Coming 2 America.

]]>“I am very much open to all of the possibilities,” – said Snipes in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “If Blade 4 comes along, that is a conversation we can have. And there are other characters in the Marvel universe that, if they want to invite me to play around with, I am with that too. I think the fans have a hunger for me to revisit the Blade character, so that could limit where they could place me as another character in that universe.”
Although the fans would certainly love to see Snipes stepping into the role once again, it is all up to Marvel and their willingness to bring the character into Marvel Cinematic universe. Here is what Marvel Studio president Kevin Feige had to say about it in a recent interview with JoBlo.
“We think it would be cool. Someday.” – said Feige. ” My tenure at Marvel started 17 years ago, and there were two things that sort of launched the modern era. One was X-Men, which was the first thing that people said, ‘Oh, there’s life here.’ But a few years before that, there was Blade. A character nobody had heard of at all, had only appeared in a few issues of Tomb of Dracula or something, turned into a big franchise. That was always a great lesson for me, where you go, ‘It doesn’t matter how well known the character is, it matters how cool the movie is.’ Which, many years later, would be the reason we do Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange. I think Blade is a legacy character now, and I think it would be fun to do something with him one day.”
