In a somewhat surprising win, Kevin Hart and Bryan Cranston’s The Upside came out at the top of Box Office Records, making $19.5 million in its debut weekend to break Aquaman’s three-week reign at the top helm.

The Upside is a remake of the successful French comedy Les Intouchables that starred Omar Sy as an ex-con who takes care of a millionaire quadriplegic. In its remake, Kevin Hart takes the same role with Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston as the millionaire. Nicole Kidman played the role of Cranston’s manager.

The film opened to mixed reviews. However, it was the second best opening record for an STX movie since Bad Moms which garnered $23 million in its opening weekend. For Kevin Hart, the remake was still a poor record. His other films—Get Hard, Ride Along 2 and Central Intelligence all opened at $35 million or more.

On the other hand, the No.1 spot was a relief for Kevin who has been on news headline for quite a while over his old tweets. Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a 40% approval rating but audiences’ A Cinema Score may help spur it global success internationally.

While it was dethroned at the top spot, Aquaman still had a great record at $17 million in its fourth week in theaters. The DC Comics film also hit the $1 billion mark globally, positioning it for greater success.

Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston couldn’t resist the retiring craze that has taken over the world. Don’t worry, he won’t retire from acting like Daniel Day-Lewis or touring like Elton John. Cranston will simply stop signing autographs for his fans.

“Friends, After 18 years of signing everything for fans – I’m retiring.” wrote Cranston on his Twitter profile. “Overwhelmed by requests and I just can’t do it anymore.”

Everything is not lost, however. The 61-year old will still be more than happy to take a picture with you.

“I love meeting fans and will personalize pix in person, but that’s all,” he added. “Thanks for your understanding. See you on the street – we’ll take a selfie! Bryan”

On his Facebook profile, Cranston decided to show what he is going through and posted a photo of himself behind a large stack of fan mail. We got you, Bryan, selfie it is!

Bryan Cranston rose to fame after his Emmy Award-winning portrayal of Walter White in AMC’s crime drama Breaking Bad. Before that he had a guest role in Seinfeld portraying Dr. Tim Whatley and was also terrific as Hal in Malcolm in the Middle.

After the success of Breaking Bad, Cranston became a highly sought after actor when it comes to movies as well, landing the roles in Godzilla, Trumbo, and The Infiltrator.

His most current work is Amazon’s Sneaky Pete, which he created alongside David Shore. Cranston also stars in this drama series and has directed the eight episode of season one. This wasn’t the first time he takes over the directing role since he previously directed seven episodes of Malcolm in the Middle and three episodes of Breaking Bad.
