]]>This movie was a long time coming and it finally hit theaters after the fans of the franchise spent an entire decade asking for a standalone movie about a female superhero. Marvel gave them what they were asking for in Brie Larson, who couldn’t wait to play this feminist icon.
“I think Captain Marvel sends out a message that’s undeniably important to the world right now. And obviously Marvel is such an incredible platform to be able to share in storytelling and probably the biggest platform in terms of movies today,” stated the Oscar-winning actress while discussing this film in the past.
At this point in time, Captain Marvel earned a total of $358.1M domestically and $644.5M at the international box office. It’s seventh MCU movie to earn over $1 billion, after The Avengers, Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War.

It is likely that Marvel was waiting for Carol Danvers to have her own big screen debut before it let on that she would be joining up with her fellow Avengers to undo Thanos’ damage.
And now that she has graced our screens (with a massive box office opening weekend to boot!), Brie Larson has appeared in the latest trailer for the film which is set to wrap up the first 11 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, Iron Man, Hawkeye, and Ant-Man all look set to seek revenge for the murder of the Avengers who perished in Avengers: Infinity War.
Snippets from the trailer indicate a time jump (thanks for Black Widow’s hair) and a prospective future Avenger in the form of Kate Bishop…
All will be revealed on the 26th of April.

]]>The latest trailer for the highly-anticipated Captain Marvel has been dropped and it reveals more of the superhero’s origin story. The trailer depicts Denvers’ transformation into the iconic superhero and her struggle to remember her past and figure out who she really is.
The trailer also gives us a little more from the scene when she knocks out a sweet old lady that we saw in the last trailer. Luckily, it is made clear that the OAP is actually a “Skrull,” who are the bad guys. This means that Captain Marvel is still a hero and not a total psycho.

An official synopsis states: “The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
Captain Marvel will be released in theatres March 8, 2019.

]]>The majority of the details about the movie were revealed during Marvel’s panel at 2017 San Diego Comic-Con. Unlike other movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain Marvel will be set in the past, in the 1990s to be exact. It was also confirmed that the Skrulls, extraterrestrial shapeshifters, will be the movie’s main villains. Samuel L. Jackson will be de-aged using computer animation in order to portray the younger version of Nick Fury. This will likely mean that we will see Nick Fury for the first time without his eye patch.
Law’s character Mar-Vell is portrayed in the comics as a Kree empire spy sent to Earth to see if the humans are a threat. When he arrives at Earth, Mar-Vell assumes the identity of recently deceased scientist Dr. Walter Lawson. He plays an important role in the Carol Danvers’s story as he serves as a mentor while she learns to deal with her newfound powers and helps her in the transition to Captain Marvel.
The filming of Captain Marvel is expected to begin at some point next year, while the release date is set for March 8, 2019. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Sugar and Mississippi Grind) are attached as directors while Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) wrote the original script. The Tomb Raider reboot screenwriter Geneva Robertson-Dworet was recently brought in to do some additional work on the script.
