Despite all the naysayers and internet trolls trying to sabotage its success, Captain Marvel managed to fly high and become one of the most successful MCU movies to date. The studio’s first female-led film just crossed the $1 billion mark on the box office.

This movie was a long time coming and it finally hit theaters after the fans of the franchise spent an entire decade asking for a standalone movie about a female superhero. Marvel gave them what they were asking for in Brie Larson, who couldn’t wait to play this feminist icon.

“I think Captain Marvel sends out a message that’s undeniably important to the world right now. And obviously Marvel is such an incredible platform to be able to share in storytelling and probably the biggest platform in terms of movies today,” stated the Oscar-winning actress while discussing this film in the past.

At this point in time, Captain Marvel earned a total of $358.1M domestically and $644.5M at the international box office. It’s seventh MCU movie to earn over $1 billion, after The Avengers, Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War.
