Based on David Fisher’s book of the same name, War Magician chronicles the life of the British stage magician Jasper Maskelyne, best known for claiming to have created large-scale illusions that reportedly helped the British army defeat the Nazis during World War II.

This isn’t the first attempt to bring Maskelyne’s story to the big screen. Peter Weir previously revealed he was considering filming a movie based on the illusionist’s life starring Tom Cruise. He eventually decided to drop it because it was difficult to separate facts from fiction due to the possibility that Fisher fabricated parts of the story.

Trevorrow’s take will be based on a script written by E. Nicholas Mariani. It’s expected to focus on an international team of magicians who conspired with Maskelyne to take down the Nazis. Trevorrow will serve as one of the producers through his company Metronome Films.

The director later took to social media and shared the final set picture on his Twitter account. The photo shows himself with Mamoudou Athie, DeWanda Wise, and Sam Neill who returns to his role as Alan Grant. The enclosed tweet read: “Wrap on Jurassic World Dominion. All my gratitude to our extraordinary crew and cast. We made a family.”

The movie was one of the first victims of the pandemic, having been shut down only three weeks into its filming. However, Universal invested millions of dollars in order to create a safe environment for filming to resume. It was one of the first major productions to do so.

Apart from Neill, Jurassic World 3: Dominion also sees Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum coming back to reprise their roles as Ellie Sattler and Ian Malcolm. Plot details are kept under wraps, but Trevorrow has promised in the past they will play big roles in the movie. It is the first movie since the original that reunites the three characters.

Director Colin Trevorrow broke the exciting news on social media, by sharing a photo from the first day of shooting that clearly revealed the title of the upcoming movie. Trevorrow directed the first Jurassic World movie from 2015, before passing the mantle to J. A. Bayona for the second one, but eventually agreed to return for the third.

Trevorrow won’t be the only one making a comeback in Jurassic World: Dominion. The movie will also feature the stars of the original Jurassic Park franchise – Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and Jeff Goldblum.

“We’d have had to come up with a reason why Ellie, Malcolm, and Grant all went to the theme park on the exact same day it broke down – again. The next film allows the legacy characters to be a part of the story in an organic way,” said Trevorrow while discussing their comeback with Empire.

Jurassic World: Dominion is set to premiere on June 11th, 2021 and it will star Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson, and Omar Sy.

Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. After the script wasn’t warmly received by the studio, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child stage play writer Jack Thorne was brought in to do the rewrites.

After directing documentary Reality Show, he achieved success with 2012 indie film Safety Not Guaranteed. Trevorrow was hired to direct the next installment of the Jurassic Park series titled Jurassic World. Released in 2015, Jurassic World became a huge success at the box office, earning more than $1.6 billion. It also received critical acclaims and credited for revitalizing the franchise. His next project was 2017 drama The Book of Henry, which received negative reviews from the critics and under-performed at the box office. It is believed that the bad reviews for this movie played a part in Trevorrow’s exit from the Star Wars: Episode IX.
