Based on Jack Carr’s bestselling novel, this intriguing project centers on a Navy SEAL operative, James Reece (Pratt), as he tries to undercover the truth behind the deaths of his team after being ambushed during a high-stakes covert mission.

Wu is set to join him in the role of Katie Buranek, described as a risk-seeking war correspondent, who uses her byline to speak truth to power after leaving a job at a prestigious news outlet to pursue high-impact stories on her own terms.

This project is somewhat out of the box for Wu, who’s best known for the roles in the sitcom Fresh Off the Boat and her critically acclaimed performances in Crazy Rich Asians and Hustlers. She’s currently also attached to star in Low Budget Ethnic Movie and sci-fi series Solo.

The film, a modern and original take on the period genre, will be directed by Emma Holly Jones, based on her short film which gathered over one million views on YouTube. Jones’ short film was based on a novel of the same name.

Wu will play Julie, a society lady rejected by London’s most eligible bachelor Mr. Malcolm (Dirisu), after not meeting the requirements for a bride. Due to feeling embarrassed, she and her friend Selina (Pinto) get revenge on Mr. Malcom by making him believe he’s found his match. All seems to be working until Henry (Heughan) threatens their plan by courting Selina and Lord Cassidy (Jackson-Cohen) gets involved in the scheme. Throughout it all, Mr. Malcolm wonders if he has found the perfect woman.

Wu and Pinto will executive produce with Refinery29, who the producers developed the short with.

The trailer sees a group of former strip club employees being fed up by the way they’re treated and deciding to scam their Wall Street clients. This movie is based on New York magazine’s viral article “The Hustlers at Scores,” and it was directed and written by Lorene Scafaria.

Jennifer Lopez takes the main role as the ringleader of the group, and she’s in a pretty great company. The supporting cast includes the likes of Constance Wu, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, Cardi B, and Lizzo.

Some of her co-stars didn’t have any acting credits to their name before joining this project, but Lopez admitted they’ve impressed her with their hard work and dedication while discussing the movie with Billboard.

We can’t wait to see them taking down Wall Street croons on September 13th, when Hustlers hits the theaters.

The Fresh Off the Boat actress has been attached to a big screen adaptation Goodbye, Vietnam.

The title belongs to the debut novel from Rachel Khong which was named a Best Book of the Year by NPR, O, The Oprah Magazine, Vogue, San Francisco Chronicle, Esquire, Huffington Post, Nylon, Entertainment Weekly, Buzzfeed, Booklist, and The Independent.

Wu will take on the role of Ruth Young whose history professor father contracts Alzheimer’s disease, leading to his being fired. Young then returns home where she creates a fake class for him to teach.

The actress, who is actually of Taiwanese descent, will also executive produce the project that is being produced by Universal Pictures. Jennifer Yee McDevitt will pen the screenplay.

A production date has not yet been announced, but it is expected to fit around the schedule of Fresh Off the Boat which was renewed last month for a sixth season.
